“Look, I care about her a lot,” I tell him. “More than you even know.”

He gives me a disgusted sneer and points at me. “If you hurt my sister, I’ll cut your fucking balls off while you’re sleeping.”

“I’d never hurt her.”

“She’s too good for you.”

I nod. “Yeah, but I’m going to do everything I can to deserve her.”

Eli puts an arm around each of us, grinning. “Looks like you two might be broskis someday.”

“If I’m lucky,” I say.

“If I don’t stab you in the crotch first,” he fires back.

“Enough, ladies,” Coach says. “Hit the showers. Some of us would like to get the hell out of this shitty locker room as soon as possible.”

“So, uh, did you?” Maverick asks me when he’s showering next to me a few minutes later. “Sleep with his sister?”

I scoff. “You know I don’t kiss and tell.”

“From what I can tell, you don’t even kiss. You haven’t been with a woman in a while, have you?”

“I’m not discussing this with you.”

He shakes his head. “You’re missing my point, man. Gia told me at a pool party over at Pike’s house once that she thought you had eyes for Kylie. I never said anything to anyone, but I think my girlfriend was right. And that was a while ago. So I’m happy for you.”

I can’t believe Gia noticed anything; I thought I hid my feelings well.

“Thanks.” I lower my brows. “What’s that like, anyway? Having a pro poker player for a girlfriend who can read all your body language so easily?”

He chuckles. “Sometimes it fucking sucks. Like when I tell her I like what she made for dinner and she knows I’m bullshitting. But usually, it’s good. Gia’s a straight shooter and I like that about her.”

“Yeah, I guess that makes sense.”

“Hey, if you guys ever want to go out for dinner with us, just say the word. We don’t have many couple friends and I know she wishes we did.”

I nod. “Yeah, that would be good.”

He turns off his shower and heads for the towels, and I finish lathering my body with soap, my thoughts on Kylie. I want to see her again as soon as the team plane lands after this road trip, but she has plans with Jasmine. Our next date is Wednesday night, and I’m counting down the days.

When I finish showering, I dry off and get back to my locker to get dressed. I check my phone and see a text from Kylie. There’s a picture, and I immediately click on it.

Fucking hell. She took a topless selfie. It’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.

Kylie: For your eyes only. You make me feel brave. I miss you. And great game. *heart emoji*

Once I pick my jaw up off the ground, I respond.

Pax: Wow. I miss you too. I’m going to go look at this pic for the next eighteen hours or so. You’re so damn sexy.

Kylie: Be safe. Good night.

Pax: Night, baby.

Chapter Eighteen

Kylie

“Six inch or twelve?”

My cheeks burn as I gape at the girl working behind the sandwich counter of the deli Pax and I are getting lunch at. This is about my food order, but it’s also…not.

“Um, twelve,” I say, clearing my throat. “I’ll take twelve.”

Will I, though? We are having an unexpected day date today since I’m off work on a Tuesday due to covering for a coworker whose anniversary was Sunday. And after we eat lunch, I’m pretty sure we’ll end up at his place for Sex 2.0.

Our first time was only salvaged by Pax’s deep skill set with female anatomy and dirty talk. He launched me into a new stratosphere with the orgasm he gave me, and I’d like a hundred more just like it, but I’m also intimidated.

I’m nowhere near as experienced as him. I’ve only been with one other man, and my pussy has had a Closed for Business sign hanging over it for nearly a decade. I want to make him as crazy as he makes me, but it’s impossible to do that if I can’t even get him inside me.

“You okay?” he asks as we sit down at a table with our food.

“Yeah, just…thinking.”

“You mean overthinking?”

I laugh at that, because…guilty.

“What did you order?” I ask him.

He looks down at his sandwich as he unwraps it. “Gyro. You want a bite?”

My cheeks heat again, because since the other night, I’ve had a one-track mind. And that track is Pax’s mouth and hands all over me.

“I do want a bite,” I admit. “But not of the sandwich.”

“Ah.” His smirk is sexy. “Sounds like you want to see what my bedroom looks like during the day.”

“I wouldn’t object.”

We make small talk as we eat. His new skates. My favorite coworkers. The best restaurants in the area. Our conversation is benign, but our expressions are not. Pax’s eyes fixate on my mouth, his expression nothing short of lustful. My gaze is locked on his broad shoulders and the biceps barely contained by his T-shirt sleeves.
