Eden shook her head. “No, please, no doctor. I can’t stand anyone poking or prodding me.”

Maeve tried not to think about her ass sticking out of the back as she made her way upstairs with Eden. Neither of them spoke as she helped her sister onto the bed.

“You know, I can move.”

“I know. I know. You’re getting bigger every day,” Maeve said. Eden glowed with happiness. Pregnancy suited her so much.

“Thanks, that is what every pregnant woman wants to hear. How fat they look.”

Maeve rolled her eyes. “Stop it. You’re not fat.”

Eden sighed. “Do you think there’s a chance I’m carrying twins?”

Maeve frowned. “No, not at all.”

“I’m being serious right now. What if there is a second baby inside me, and I don’t see it?”

Maeve chuckled. “You’ve got one baby.”

“Do you think it’s a boy or a girl?”

“I have no idea but I do know it’s going to be spoiled rotten.” She smiled at her sister.

Silence fell between them.

“So, I’ve given you plenty of time to come clean, do I have to be the one to ask all the questions?” Eden asked.

Maeve nibbled her lip, and she couldn’t help her nerves. “What do you want to know?”

“You and Doc?”

“Yeah, I know.”

“You two looked so lost in each other. It took you a second to realize I was even in the room,” Eden said.

Maeve laughed. “I am so sorry about that. I didn’t expect you to come home.”

“Is that what has been happening since I’ve been away?”

“You and Razor went away for your honeymoon, and everything was just ... I don’t know what happened.”

“What happened to Nancy? Does she know?”

“She knows.”

“Was there a fight? Did you have to punch her?”

Maeve shook her head. “No, I didn’t have to punch her. It was all nice and handled without any violence. Nancy’s actually happy for us.”

“And Charlotte?”

“We’ve not told Charlotte yet. We’re waiting until after Easter.”

“Easter?” Eden asked.

“Just in case she’s upset and decides to make it difficult at the fair. You know how kids can get.” Maeve winced. “That sounded awful.”

“It’s okay. I know what you’re trying to say, and you do care about Charlotte.”

“I do.” Maeve sighed. “It’s all a mess right now.” She pouted. “There is so much going on.”

“I saw the way you looked at Doc,” Eden said. “I’ve never seen you look at a man that way before.”

“He’s not like any other man I’ve been with,” Maeve said. She couldn’t keep the smile from her face as she thought about Doc. “Honestly, just being around him makes me feel so happy, so secure, and I know I’m babbling right now.”

Eden laughed. “It’s good to babble. Babble away. We’ve not talked like this in so long.”

“Do you think we should keep Razor and Doc alone together?”

“Yeah, they’re family in their own way. Besides, we’ve got so much to catch up on, and you’re not going to leave anything out. I know you’ve been going through a lot, and I wanted to ask you so many times, but I didn’t want you to freak out or worry. I know you always put so much on your plate, even when you don’t need to.”

Maeve looked at her sister and couldn’t help but frown. “I am so sorry.”

“You don’t need to be sorry, not at all. I get it. It has been hard for you. After Mom and Dad died, you had to be the mom and dad, and let’s face it, we hate to admit it, but even when they were alive, you were the same. Mom wasn’t the one that taught me about sanitary napkins, it was you. You gave me the sex talk.”

“You’re not mad?”

“What do I have to be mad about? You’re happy, aren’t you?”

Maeve nodded. “I am.”

“So, that’s all that matters. You’re happy, and that makes me happy. Do you have feelings for him?” Eden asked.

Maeve pressed her lips together before nodding her head.

Eden let out a little squeal. “This is a huge deal.”

They both giggled. “This feels so good to just talk,” Maeve said.

“I had no idea this is what you were keeping from me. I thought you wanted Razor and I to move out of the house. I know it has been so long since we’ve had a guy living with us. The last one was Dad.”

“I don’t want you and Razor to move out. I figured you two were looking for a new place to stay and I was the one cramping your style.” She hated how much it hurt.

Eden frowned. “What? Hell, no, we’re not looking at different houses. Razor doesn’t mind living with you at all. We’re both very happy here, and there’s no other place I’d want to be. We go to the club from time to time to give you space.”

Tears filled Maeve’s eyes, and she couldn’t help throwing her arms around Eden and holding her so tightly.
