When they got to Lily’s place, the lights were still on. Eagle had been given a key, which he used to let himself in.
Lily was on the sofa, and she let out a moan. “Could you please check on Chloe? She didn’t look so good an hour ago.”
“I’m on it,” Alfie said. He left his father to be with Lily. He found Chloe curled up around the toilet, vomiting.
“You shouldn’t be here,” she said. “You’re going to get sick. It’s contagious.”
“I’m not leaving you.”
She started to throw up again, and he put a hand on her back, rubbing. When he pulled her hair back from her face, the stench of vomit was overpowering.
“Please, go.”
“Not going to happen.”
“This isn’t sexy.”
“I don’t need sexy.” He glanced around the bathroom. “You’re burning up.”
“I’m never going to be able to look at you again.”
“Don’t worry. I can look at you all I want.” He pulled her sweater off, and she wore a shirt that was soaking wet. “We need to get you cleaned up.”
She finished vomiting, and he got to filling the tub with water.
Next, he worked on stripping off her clothes, and she tried to fight him. It was really cute of her to attempt it, but there was no getting away from him.
“Please, leave me alone.”
“Not happening.”
“I could scream.”
“Go ahead. Your mother looks like death, and that would mean my dad would be in here to help you.”
“None of them sound like good options.”
“Exactly, let me help you, and I can fix this.”
“I’m sick, Alfie, not broken.”
“True, but maybe after this you’ll start to trust me.” He got her naked and tried not to pay attention to her body. She was sick, and thinking about her, sex, and more sex, wasn’t going to help the situation.
He’d not been with another chick since he’d started to be with Chloe. Women complicated things, and he often spent as little time around people as was humanly possible for him.
With her naked, he grabbed the soap, and the bubbles he’d put into the water hid her from view.
“You’ve seen me naked now,” she said, sniffling. “It’s bad, isn’t it?”
“What’s bad is I’m going to have to make it up to you.”
“What?”
“One day you’re going to see me naked.”
“You still think we’re going to have sex?”
“And you don’t? This is all about the trust thing, isn’t it? You don’t trust me, and you never will.”
“Alfie?”
He got up. “Look, I’ve not been a good guy. I know that. I’ve not even had amazing intentions when it has come to you. I’ve fucked up at every single turn, but I’m not going to do that now. I’m here, Chloe. I’m here, and there’s nowhere else I’d want to be. I’ve not been with anyone else, and I never will. How about that for commitment?”
“What exactly are you saying, Alfie? Be careful, I may not remember it all.”
He smiled. “I’m saying, Chloe Decker, that you and I are officially dating and have been an item for some time. You’re my girl, and I’m your guy.” He leaned in close but then thought better of it. “I’m not going to kiss you.”
“Probably for the best.”
“This makes me your first kiss, your first orgasm, and now your first boyfriend. You know I’m going to be your first dick as well.”
“You say something so sweet and then screw it up. I find it surreal you’ve gone from hating me, to liking me.”
“I guess spending time with you, I was able to see the error of my ways.”
“You know I never thought of myself as better than you or the club.” Her voice was croaky from all the heaving.
“I know now.”
“I don’t make friends easy. I’m awkward, weird, and I’m not a lot of fun to be around. I like to cook and read books.”
“I know. I think it’s sexy to watch you read.”
She laughed and then groaned. “I hope this is all a dream when I wake up.”
“Don’t worry. I’m going to go and make you some soup when we’re done.”
“Do you know how to cook?” she asked.
“Not a chance. I know how to walk to the diner, order soup, and come back and take care of you.”
She rested her head back against the bath. “Thank you, Alfie. You know, you’re my very first friend as well.” She took his hand, linking their fingers together.
“I need to wash your hair.” Alfie didn’t like the guilt that flooded him from her saying he was her first friend.
“I always wanted to be, you know,” she said, sounding more tired than he could recall.
“You always wanted to be what?”
“Your friend. I would wish to be included in your gang. I know I was a girl and my father was branded the way he was, but I knew I’d make a very loyal friend. No one ever gave me the chance to prove it though.” She sighed. “Thank you for giving me the chance and not letting me push you away.”
