Hilary was usually a very pretty woman, but she clearly had been on a lot more than booze and cock. She was sweating and looked like she hadn’t washed in days. The dress she wore had a lot of stains, and Maeve hated to admit it, but they looked like crusty semen stains. Some of her hair was up, but it wasn’t neatly done. As if she had her hair pulled, as the band holding it up was midway down the length. This was not the same woman she’d pulled out of her and Eden’s home nearly two years ago.

She hated this fucking woman so much. When Eden and Hilary had been friends, she would have to listen to Hilary constantly put Eden down. Her weight was always a problem, how she looked, even the way she dressed. The fact she hadn’t beaten the fucking shit out of this bitch before was a miracle in itself. Whenever she complained to her sister, Eden always had some kind of excuse, or what she considered a valid enough reason for Hilary to say and do the things she said and freaking did. It angered her to a point of distraction.

“You’re fucking Doc now, you’ve got to call him,” Hilary said. She kept looking between her, Nancy, Charlotte, and Eden. “They would all listen to you. You’ve got to tell them to stop looking for me. So, I sold some drugs and got paid for it. Everyone does it, and those drugs are good. Everyone does drugs. It’s time for them to get in on the action.” Hilary waved both guns in the air.

“She’s crazy,” Charlotte said, whispering.

“We don’t call the woman waving guns in the air like a crazy woman, crazy,” Maeve said.

Charlotte tried to hide a smile.

“What do we do?” Eden asked. “I don’t want her to shoot me. I want to have this baby and live my life with Razor!” They were talking in whispered tones.

One of them had to deal with Hilary, and there was no way she would put Charlotte or Eden at risk.

She got to her feet and glanced across the room to see Nancy there as well, standing up. They both had the same thought—to keep Hilary’s attention on them. She did not have a death wish, but they needed to keep her occupied so she didn’t fuck up anyone else.

“What’s going on, Hilary?” Maeve asked.

“Fuck you. Call that piece of shit you’re fucking and tell him if he doesn’t bring me a million dollars in cash and an escort out of here, you’re going to fucking die.”

“Honey, you don’t want to do that,” Nancy said.

“Fuck you. You don’t know what I want. You’re all going to fucking die.”

While Hilary had been distracted by Nancy, Maeve was able to move a little closer. All she could think about was keeping Eden and Charlotte safe.

“This is not going to end well for you,” Maeve said. “You need to stop this disaster train and just think.”

“Fuck you!”

“Get away from the windows!”

Maeve didn’t have a lot of time to think as she heard the revving and then seconds later, a large car rushed through.

There were screams, but through the fear, Hilary dropped her guns. The car didn’t hit her. It didn’t hit anyone, but Maeve was shocked to see Savage step out of the car at the same time as Mac.

Hilary got to her feet, picking up one of the guns closest to her, but it was Savage that grabbed Hilary and within seconds had her bound and in handcuffs.

Razor was on the scene, pulling Eden into his arms.

Maeve looked around but then Doc was there, and he cupped her face. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. What happened?”

“Charlotte was texting. She told us what was going on, including the exact layout of where you and Nancy stood.”

Nancy came to stand beside them as did Charlotte.

“Are you okay?” he asked, pulling his daughter in for a hug.

“I’m good,” both women responded at the same time.

“What the fuck were you two thinking?” he asked, turning his attention to herself and then Nancy.

Maeve looked toward Nancy. “Keeping Charlotte and Eden safe,” she said.

He shook his head. “You fucking scared me.”

Nancy let out a smile. “Don’t worry, hotshot, I would have taken a bullet for your woman. It’s the least I owe you.”

Maeve smiled and looked toward Doc.

“I’m going to see if I can help,” Charlotte said. “Love you, Dad.” She moved away as did Nancy.

“What’s going to happen now?” Maeve asked.

“We’re going to repair the new window and fix all the damage to Kristin’s shop.”

“You fucking better. This is bad for business, Doc,” Kristin said.

“I mean about Hilary?” Maeve asked.

“Sheriff Hayes will handle her, and with regard to the rest, you don’t want to know,” Doc said. “She brought drugs into town. She put your life, Charlotte’s, Eden’s, and Nancy’s life at risk. She’ll be taken care of.”
