“I did not. I’m just not used to him laughing. All of my boys.” Her face grows soft, and Dario wraps an arm around her. “I’m starting to think my jokes must be terrible,” Rochelle adds to break the mushy, maybe awkward moment. Yep, she and Cosima are a ton alike.
“We’re still going to head up.” Ronan pulls my chair out for me. We tell everyone goodnight, and I reassure Rochelle she hasn’t scared me off.
“I need a map to get around this place,” I tease.
“You only need me.” Ronan scoops me up into his arms. “You good? Not too much human interaction?” The man doesn’t miss anything. I wrap my arms around his neck as he makes his way down the hallway.
“It’s all been a lot to take in. Lots of changes and things still needing to be resolved.” I won’t truly be able to settle into any sort of new life without the threat of Cyberius being eliminated.
“I have other places we can live.”
“Homes?”
“Not sure I’d call them homes. You saw the warehouse.” It was bare-bones when it came to personal touches, but it had what you needed. I’m used to living like that with how I grew up and with always being on the move. In saying that, since Ro came into my life, I’m finding I want to put roots down and make somewhere ours.
“I liked the warehouse. I’m sure in time my shit would have been everywhere making it homey.”
“I like the sound of that too.” He gives me that smile of his that makes my insides melt.
“But so you know, I’m good here. I like this place too.”
“As long as we’re together, there’s nowhere that wouldn’t feel like home.” Tears prick my eyes at his words.
Never in a million years would I have thought that this huge bear of a man would be so mushy. It warms my heart knowing that I’m the reason for that. I really do know how to pick them. My stalking is on par and unmatched.
“You’re trying to get lucky tonight,” I joke. Ro knows it’s my way of processing when he says mushy stuff to me. I might love the praise he gives me too.
“Don’t need luck. I already have you.” He’s going to get more than lucky tonight.
“I love you.” I bring my hand to his cheek, staring into his eyes.
“I love you, too.” He leans down, taking my mouth in a kiss.
“Take me to bed and I’ll show you just how lucky you are.” I may not be good at portraying my feelings, but I can surely show him.
Chapter Thirty-One
RONAN
The clicks of the keyboard are loud in the room. Ellie has been at it for a good thirty minutes. I’d felt her slip out of bed a few hours after we’d fallen asleep. She had abruptly woken up and tried to wiggle her cute ass out of our bed and over to the computer. A thought must have hit her in her dreams. Ellie's mind is always working.
I lie there and watch her, all of her attention on the screen making a blue glow around her. When she lets out an annoyed huff, I get up from the bed, making my way to her.
“Ellie,” I softly say her name, not wanting to scare her.
“Did I wake you?” she asks, her fingers still clicking away.
“I’ve been awake.”
“You felt me get up?”
“Yes.”
“My dad has that superpower. He can be snoring away while I’m banging around in the kitchen, and he doesn't wake, but the second I open the front door, he’s wide awake.”
I rest my hands on her shoulders and start to gently rub them. A small moan leaves her, making my cock wake up too. I was inside of her only a few hours ago. It’s never enough. I’m starting to understand addiction.
I can’t make out shit that she’s doing on the computer. It might as well be in another language. I can tell she’s irritated. I’m pleased that she’s doing this to begin with. Ellie has been keeping her distance from tech altogether for the most part, like it was going to bite her. That fear must be shaking off as her confidence grows that I can protect her.
“Are you onto something?”
“I want to find him.”
“His location?” Ellie shakes her head no, making her curls bounce. I can’t stop myself from touching them. I didn’t know hair could be a turn-on, but Ellie’s is, especially when those wild red locks are spread out all around her while my cock is inside of her.
“That would be nice, but this shitbrick knows all about me. It’s my turn to find out as much as I can about him.” Another huff leaves her. “Cyberius is cocky, and he has the right to be. He might be a shitbrick, but he knows what he’s doing, and he taunts people online to try to find things about him, even leaving breadcrumbs.”
