“Ladies.” They all scream except for Cosima and Mac. I bet Cosima got those girls onto those weird-ass doll things.
“I could have died.” Tova holds her hand to her chest.
“You’re okay, Mommy. I screamed with you.” Her daughter tucks into her side. “Uncle Ro is a giant but gentle teddy bear.”
“Drop the teddy part,” Mac corrects her cousin. “He’s just a bear. All fierce and protective.” She holds up her hands like claws and growls.
“You followed me,” Ellie accuses.
“When have I not followed you?” My eyes go to her laptop. These ladies are always up to something. If they meet a new person, they are always finding out, as they call it, “the tea” on people. You’re not keeping shit from them. They could give the CIA a run for their money.
“Fair point.” Ellie closes the laptop in front of her. Not sure why she’s hiding said tea. My wife will be spilling it all to me later. She can’t help herself, and half the time it is rather entertaining.
“The van.”
“Oh my God, I told you, Cosima!” Ellie hisses at her. The french fry almost to her mouth pauses.
“The girls wanted french fries.” She quickly defends her DoorDash order.
“We did?” Mac asks, only to have her cousin elbow her in the side. “Right, we did. That was us.” She points to herself. Then both girls make puppy dog faces. They are all thick as thieves, and I don’t hate it.
“We can’t DoorDash to the bunker. Then it’s not a secret,” Ellie tells her.
“I mean, was it ever a secret?” Tova asks, grabbing one of Cosima’s fries.
I let out a loud sigh. “Wait, are you mad at me?” Ellie's eyes go wide.
“Come here,” I order her. I don’t issue my wife many orders. There isn’t a need. I’ll more often just move her myself, but when I do, she listens to me.
“This really isn’t my fault.” Not sure that’s true. She would have been the first to come up with the bunker idea. Old habits. Adorable ones if you ask me, but I’m biased.
“I know it’s not your fault.” I tell her, and she nods along. “It’s mine really.” I keep going.
“Right, yes,” Ellie agrees.
“That math works,” Cosima says.
“Do you know math?” Tova tosses back at her, making the girls and my mom giggle.
“I’m glad we’re on the same page. Your fault. I’m innocent and always good.” Ellie's tongue comes out, swiping her bottom lip. She tossed that good word in there with a clear purpose.
“Sorry to do this to you, ladies,” I announce.
“Wait. Do wha—” I grab Ellie, tossing her over my shoulder.
“I’ll be taking my wife home.” Our daughter giggles, used to my affection for her mother.
I turn, leaving with my prize. “Don’t let Mac on the computer!” Ellie shouts to them as I make my way out of the bunker.
"If she does world domination from your laptop tonight, that one's on you," I tease Ellie.
"Don't give her any ideas." She slaps my ass. I pull her back over to cradle her in my arms as I make my way back toward the house. "Am I in trouble?" She knows she's not.
"I thought you were innocent. Good."
"I'm good."
"The best," I add. Ellie wraps her arms around my neck, and I shift her. She wraps her legs around me.
"I am the best." She nods. “But then why am I being taken back to the house?” Ellie pretends like she didn’t just bait me to do this. My girl is eating up her praise but wanting an orgasm to go with it.
I kiss her. It’s been too long since my mouth was on her. “Told you. I always follow after you.” Ellie knows anytime she turns around I’m there. I will always be at her back. The man to keep her safe while she and the other girls plot world domination.
God knows they can do it. There are many who have tried to take the Marino men down, but only these women can bring us to our knees.
