“Pants,” I tell her. “That’s the bathroom.” I motion toward the door.
“Thanks.” Ellie takes the bag from me. I lean down to kiss the shell of her ear. “Don’t take too long.”
“I know. You’ll have Ellie withdrawals.”
“Exactly.” She's not wrong, but it's also time to get this show on the road.
"You two are so adorable."
"Gross." Ellie scrunches her face.
"Gross?" Cosima laughs. "I recall you saying marriage and love were gross once upon a time."
"They still are."
“So you’re not in love with my brother here?”
“I have to put pants on.” I watch my girl hurry toward the bathroom, her cheeks flushing a soft pink.
“I can’t believe this!” Cosima whispers loudly before following after Ellie.
When I turn back to Z, he’s done setting up his system. “We need to talk.”
“I know.” I run my fingers across the top of my skull. “But we’ll wait.”
“Are you sure you don’t want us to talk first?”
“Yeah, we wait.”
I won’t keep Ellie in the dark, not when she’s the star of the show. I want her to see how much I believe and trust in her.
No hiding, for either of us.
Chapter Twenty-Four
ELLIE
“I’m sleeping with your brother,” I blurt out. I knew Cosima was going to be right on my ass when I entered the bathroom. Thankfully the shirt Ronan put on me went past my knees. I still can’t get over how big he is. He really might be a bear shifter.
“I got that with him missing a shirt and you wearing it.”
“It just happened, and well, I’m not sorry.” Not going to lie.
“All right.” She folds her arms over her chest. “I’m still mad.”
“Really?” I stop digging through my backpack when I find underwear and shorts to put on. If she’s so pissed, why does she have a smirk on her face?
“I’m mad you didn’t tell me, and we need to get you sexier panties.”
“Hey, they’re comfortable.” I press them to my chest protectively. She’ll have to fight to stop me from wearing my granny panties.
“Have you tried other kinds?”
“I’m not sticking anything up my ass.” I have no clue how people wear thongs. That would drive me insane.
“Of course not. You only do that for his birthday or an anniversary.” I pull the panties on under the shirt. I guess a thong wouldn’t be the worst for a few minutes. I’m sure Ronan would be pulling it off me in seconds. “I mean, a finger isn’t terrible in the moment. You know?”
I pause from slipping my shorts on. “We’re not talking about a thong, are we?”
“Ah!” Cosima bursts into laughter. It dawned on me she meant a cock in the ass.
“Wait, you mean his dick! Have you seen him? He’s big everywhere.” Ronan would split me in two. I would never be able to walk again. Then my dad couldn’t make me go on those stupid runs, I think, weighing both sides. Hmm.
“Okay, too far, too far.” Cosima puts her hands over her ears, but she’s still laughing. I finish getting dressed, shoving Ronan’s shirt into my bag. It’s mine now.
“How are you always so put together?” Cosima has on a pink babydoll dress; I think that’s what they’re called, and I only know because I lived with her for a month. She has a clip that matches her hot pink heels pulling half of her shiny blond hair to the side.
She asked Ronan if he’s ever heard of color, and I wonder if she knows there are other colors than pink. That said, Cosima can pull it off. She can do most things in life. The girl has grit with a dash of moxie. Everything that comes out of her mouth she says without hesitation and with her whole chest.
“What are you talking about? Look at you.” Cosima grabs my shoulders, turning me to face the mirror. My wild mass of curls is extra out of control, my lips puffy from Ronan’s kisses, and my cheeks flushed. “You’re fucking sexy, girl.” I lick my lips.
“I do kinda glow. That would be good sex, right?”
“That and it will end up giving you a pregnant glow.”
“Shit.” I turn back around. “How are you doing?” Cosima isn’t showing yet, but her dress flares out, so it would hide a small bump.
“I’m doing good. Besides all the worry you’ve put me through by skipping out on me.” And there it is. Cosima loves being dramatic. I knew there was no way in hell she was going to let me get away with being so flighty these past few weeks.
“There have been things going on. Things I didn’t want to pull you into.” People might fear the Marinos, but I don’t see them that way. Sure, they might murder people. These things happen. But in my eyes, they always land on the right side of things. In my view, which Ronan has shown me, that's what matters.
