I finished my food and felt something buzz in my pocket. Four fucking phones—it was time to get rid of one. I just wasn’t sure which one. The private phone? The one for the inner circle of Sons who demanded attention quickly? The street phone that approximately five hundred people had the number to? I had that one on silent all the time.

It could be Shan.

Shite. I’d already forgotten the purpose of the fourth phone. I hurriedly dug out the burner and swallowed hard at the notification of a text.

Ha! So much for getting more sleep.

I opened the message.

10 pm tomorrow. I’ll be there five minutes before.

I bit on my thumbnail and thought of a reply.

Understood. Any instructions?

That was vague enough—but a question that needed to be asked, because I wasn’t sure Shan had thought this through. Did he want me undressed right upon arrival? Did he want me to touch him first? Should I sit? Stand?

Completely engulfed in darkness, we might require a starting point.

It took him a couple minutes to respond, but when he did, all the blood left my brain.

Worship me.

Holy fuck.

Chapter 7

Deep breaths.

I wanted a cigarette to calm my nerves, but I’d decided that this man Shan was about to fuck didn’t smoke.

As soon as I entered the little vestibule and closed the door behind me, any background noise faded. I felt it in the foundation of the building instead. The floor vibrated and pulsed with the bass from music below us. Then I spotted the tablet in the docking station and wondered if maybe the bass came from the other side of that door too. Shan had pushed play on a list of songs that made it clear they were meant to fuck to.

I could smell him here. His Armani scent lingered in the clothes he’d folded over the chair under the shelf with the stereo system. Nothing else fit in here, and I chose the hooks on the wall for my clothes instead. My character wore hoodies and sweats, but they were high-end brands, and he’d just come from a workout. I was leaving a gym bag on the floor, a pair of reading glasses on the shelf, the car key to a nice but old BMW next to the glasses, and a bottle of aloe water on the chair. All of which should give Shan an image of someone who definitely wasn’t me.

I wouldn’t be caught alive outside wearing sweatpants.

Deep breaths.

I couldn’t believe this was it. Leaving my briefs on, I scanned my surroundings to see if I’d forgotten anything. I didn’t see Shan’s underwear anywhere, but I wasn’t going to dig through his belongings.

“Calm the fuck down,” I exhaled and rolled my shoulders. When push came to shove, Shannon was probably more nervous than I was. He wanted to be worshiped, yet he didn’t want any intimacy? I supposed it was possible to find a thin line in between the two, where I focused on the physical touch he craved, but it was gonna be difficult. Every fiber of my being screamed to express just how much I’d coveted him.

I drew in a deep breath through my nose and willed myself to slow things down. Mainly, my mind. My racing thoughts.

Knowing Shannon, he wasn’t even thinking about sex right now. He was sitting in there staring at the sliver of light under the door, worrying I’d forget to turn it off before I joined him.

“You can do this,” I whispered to myself. I shook it off. I rolled my shoulders again, I jumped in place a few times, I flexed my fingers, and then I stopped. I exhaled and closed my eyes.

Make it good for him.

Take care of him.

I was as prepared as I could be. Everything on me was new—toothpaste, shower gel, aftershave, deodorant, clothes, shoes, the list went on. And I wasn’t going to overthink the next step.

I flicked off the light, adjusted the wristbands that flashed red in the darkness, and grabbed the door handle.

The music was the first thing that greeted me as I opened the door. The heavy, seductive beat reverberated through me, and it was loud enough that I wouldn’t have to worry about being quiet. We wouldn’t hear each other anyway.

I sucked in a breath and steeled myself when I spotted Shan. Or the two blue wristbands. He’d chosen the center of the couch.

Give him everything.

I closed the door, then walked straight over to him and straddled his lap. Ignoring how he went completely rigid, I cupped his face in my hands and dipped down and kissed him. In a split second, all my fantasies came true. Pipedreams and years of not even having the balls to wish for it.

I screwed my eyes shut and came in again, kissing him harder and deeper, warmer and wetter, as I let my hands fall down his arms, his chest… Fuck me, I still couldn’t believe it. I brushed my fingers through his chest hair at the same time as he thawed underneath me and started kissing me back tentatively.
