He’d found me in a gay BDSM bar, for crying out loud.

But…

I had no idea where to begin or what I’d like. I knew what turned me on in the books I’d read so far, and I knew the type of things that scared the fuck out of me when I’d seen them online. But the rest was all jumbled up in the middle and getting tangled in my head.

Bex squeezed my hand and mimed taking a deep breath again, which I immediately obeyed because I liked that order. “There will always be things that we don’t have in common. That doesn’t matter because we’re looking for where our interests overlap, and I’d be incredibly surprised if we didn’t have a lot in common.”

From everything he’d said, that sounded reasonable.

Nothing he’d mentioned so far scared me or even touched close to the things that had made me uncomfortable in a bad way. Just thinking about that made me want to squirm as thoughts of spankings floated through my mind.

Bex chuckled, shaking his head again as his expression made me blush. “I want to ask what you were thinking about that made you squirm, but I’m not sure if you’re ready to answer that question.”

I probably wasn’t, but again, I was in a BDSM bar and he was a Dom…

“I was…” Looking at his face was too hard, so I dropped my gaze to my water, and the memory of asking him if I could have a drink sent a shiver through me. “I was thinking about where our limits might overlap from what you’d already said and the examples you’d already given.”

Taking a deep breath, I realized that hadn’t been as hard as I thought it would be.

Hoping the rest would come out as easily, I sat straighter and kept my gaze on the water. “Nothing you’d said made me uncomfortable in a bad way, and that led to a thought…it led to a thought about other kinds of uncomfortable…like the spanking comment you made.”

Okay, slightly halting but it hadn’t been too bad.

I was still breathing and a quick peek at Bex let me see that he was smiling. I was coming to know that face. He was proud of me again.

That didn’t mean it was easy to look at him, though.

He made me squirmy when he got that look and I had no idea what to do with the weird feelings it gave me.

As he started to reply, the feelings got even stronger and I focused on the water bottle again, which had him chuckling.

It was obvious I wasn’t subtle…but he didn’t seem to mind.

“And you’re at least a little curious about that kind of uncomfortable?” The simple question had me nodding before I could think about answering in words, and luckily they didn’t seem to be necessary because he kept going. “Is it the idea of the pain that you’re curious about or is it something about being helpless or just giving yourself to a Dom like that?”

Oh, the questions were getting harder.

I really tried to sit still but nothing in me was working right. My stomach was whirling, and my brain wasn’t really keeping up with the conversation—it was stuck on fantasies of me being bent over Bex’s lap—and my dick was hard for God only knew what reason.

“May I have another drink of water, Sir?” Oh. I’d said it.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to die or hide under the table, but before I could figure it out, Bex answered. “Good boy. Thank you, and yes, you may have a drink of water. Remember. Drink. Set it down carefully. Take a deep breath.”

Yes, that was a good plan to make sure I didn’t choke and that I got enough oxygen to make sure I made sense.

And it made Bex happy.

And he called me a good boy.

Something about the whole thing made my dick harder, even though I was only drinking water. That had to be crazy but Bex’s nod and the way he was looking so wonderfully confident said he probably thought it made perfect sense.

I decided to just ignore my search for logic and focus on the moment.

One thing at a time, and at the moment, that was water and a deep breath.

When I’d obeyed him and was feeling better, I remembered that I’d been avoiding his question. Shoot. Okay. I could do it.

“Do you need me to repeat the question?” Bex managed not to laugh as he asked that but it seemed to be a close call.

I was not as subtle as I’d hoped.

Great.

No more wimping out.

“A mix of all three?” Once I got the first part out, the rest came more easily. Extra oxygen seemed to make a lot of things easier. “I’m not sure if I can pin it down to one specific reason but I know I’m curious.”
