“Thank you. Why don’t you try to take a little catnap? You’ll need plenty of energy for what I have planned.” I kissed the tip of her nose, then padded out into the hall, shutting the bedroom door behind me.

As I was descending the stairs, someone started banging on my door. Annoyed that Bianca would be disturbed, I rushed to the entrance and swung the door open, growling, “No need to break the fucking door.”

Justice stood on the other side, his face mottled from anger, and his expression promising murder. When he saw my state of undress, his face turned so red I was surprised his head didn’t explode. “Where the fuck is my daughter, Bryant?” he snarled in a deadly voice. “If you don’t bring her to me right now, so help me, I will have your ass thrown in jail.”

I folded my arms across my chest and raised an eyebrow. “For what?”

Justice’s hands balled into fists so tight his knuckles cracked. “Whatever they’ll believe,” he muttered, his tone deadly. I had no doubt he was serious. When it came to his wife and daughters, he would lie, steal, cheat, or murder—whatever it took to protect them. I couldn’t fault him since I would do the same for my family.

“Where is my daughter, you motherfucker?” he bellowed. “Before I decide you're not good enough for jail and kill you myself.”

Shaking my head, I grunted, “I’m not—”

“Daddy?”

I closed my eyes and inhaled a calming breath. So many spankings, little kitten. When I opened them, I turned around to see Bianca standing at the top of the stairs in nothing but my shirt—buttoned, thank fuck. “Go back to our room, Bianca,” I ordered firmly, though I made sure my tone wasn’t too harsh.

“Bianca, get down here right now!” Justice barked.

She scowled at her dad and snapped, “Don’t yell at me, Daddy.” Then she tossed me a disgruntled glare but spun around and disappeared down the hall.

“Bi—”

“Shut the fuck up before you upset her any more, Justice,” I snarled. “Stressing her out isn’t good for her or the baby.” No, that was not a slip of the tongue.

“Baby?” Justice took a menacing step forward, and while I was not easily intimidated, I had to fight the instinct to back up.

It was almost as if he’d been replaced by the devil himself and, despite being in his sixties, Justice was in tip-top shape. He wouldn’t be easy to take down if he started swinging.

“You knocked up my baby girl?” With shockingly fast reflexes, Justice’s hand was suddenly around my throat. “Without marrying her?”

Before I could react, Bianca shouted, “Daddy! Stop that!”

The sound of her footsteps grew closer as she ran down the stairs, and the fear that she might try to put herself between us was the only thing that kept me from smashing my fist into his jaw.

“Daddy, let go,” she begged, running up to us and tugging on his arm—fully dressed, thankfully. He begrudgingly released me, and I inhaled quickly before coughing harshly a few times.

Rubbing my neck, I glanced at Bianca to make sure she was okay. Then I glared daggers at her father. He reached for her, but I anticipated his movement and snaked an arm around her waist, hauling her up against me. Grabbing her wrist with my other hand, I held it up to show off both of our wedding rings.

“I remedied that the second I found her,” I growled.

He stared hard at me, his expression unreadable, then his eyes dropped to Bianca and his face softened. “You don’t have to stay married just because you’re pregnant, baby girl. I know what a romantic you are. You should be married to someone who loves you.”

I was shocked at his comment and, therefore, speechless for a few moments. Did he really think I would have…that I didn’t…

When I finally found my voice a few seconds later, my jaw was hard, so my voice came out gritty. But it didn’t disguise the homicidal rage vibrating through my entire body. “No one. No one. Will ever take my wife and babies from me. If anyone tried, I would send them straight into the devil’s arms. And if I didn’t love Bianca so much and know that it would break her heart, I would kill you for even suggesting such a thing.”

I was pretty sure respect glinted in his eyes, but I was too pissed to care. Especially when I heard Bianca gasp. She was staring up at me with wide, hope-filled eyes. “You love me?”

Everything in me softened as I turned my new wife in my arms so I could place a sweet kiss on her lips. “Of course, I love you, kitten. Do you really think I would have put my baby in you, searched high and low until I found you, then tied you to me as quickly as possible, if I didn’t love you?”
