Riding up to where she was, Ava spun toward him, and he saw she had some pepper spray in her hand.
“Are you sure you want to use that?” he asked.
“Pat?” she asked, and quickly dropped the can. “You scared me. I had no idea who it was.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not upset. What’s wrong with your car?” he asked.
“The damn lock keeps seizing up on me.” She gave it a wriggle, and then the door opened.
“What about the lock?” he asked.
She held her car keys up. “Stopped working last week.” She licked her lips.
He knew she was thinking about the kiss they had shared. Pat had spent a lot of time thinking about it as well.
“So, uh, what brings you to the coffee shop? We’re closed and I can’t let you in.”
“Actually, I didn’t come here for the coffee.”
“You didn’t?”
“No, I came for you,” he said.
“You did?”
“Do you want to go for a ride?”
She looked at his bike and her eyes seemed to go wide. “Your bike?”
“Yeah, wouldn’t you like a ride on it?” he asked.
This was safer. He could take her for a ride, then bring her back to get her car and make sure she got to her apartment safely. That way, he wasn’t tempted to just fuck her. If he was inside her apartment, all bets would be off.
“I’ve never ridden on the back of a bike...”
“Come on then,” he said.
She went to the trunk of her car and quickly tossed in her bag. She rushed back to him, and he helped her climb on.
“I don’t have a helmet for you, so you’re going to have to hold on tight.”
Her arms wrapped around him, and he couldn’t help but smile as she gripped him tightly. He felt the warmth of her thighs wrapped around him as well, and he didn’t want her to let go. She felt amazing.
He pulled out of the parking lot of the coffee shop, and he started out slow at first. Ava’s grip was tight, and he took her through the main roads leading out of Carnage. He didn’t take her far. When he got faster, she held onto him tighter. He felt the mounds of her tits at his back.
The temptation to pull up, take off his jacket, and make her wear it was strong, but he didn’t. This was just a ride. To tide them over.
The time passed way too fast, and when it was nearing three, he had no choice but to take her back to her car. Ava climbed off, and he sensed she was going to fall, so he quickly reacted and grabbed her.
“I’ve got you,” he said.
“Whoa, does that happen all the time?” she asked with a smile.
“No, you get used to it.”
She let out a little phew. “I don’t know if I will ever get used to that.”
He got off his bike and moved to her car, checking the tires to make sure nothing had been messed with. “You’re good to go.”
“Something is going on, isn’t it?” Ava asked.
He looked at her and nodded his head.
She held her hands up. “I won’t ask any more questions.” She looked down at her watch. “Crap, Mom’s going to be pissed at me.” She winced. “I’ll see you later, right?”
“You’ll see me, Ava.”
He waited until she got in her car, and he followed her. She didn’t drive back to her apartment, but went straight home. She parked on her mother’s drive, walked in, and he waited several minutes before he headed straight back to the clubhouse.

Ava turned the bacon in the pan, stirred the scrambled eggs, quickly grabbed the toast, and spread a thin layer of butter over the surface.
The coffeepot was ready for when Violet and Hazel woke up. She had a drink, and it was a little after eight in the morning. Bernice had her morning toilet break and had eaten her breakfast. Ava had already planned to take her for a walk.
Violet was the first one awake. Her hair was all over the place, and she looked a mess.
“You didn’t remove your makeup last night,” Ava said.
“Do I look like I give a fuck?”
“Your skin will care in years to come,” Ava said.
“You’re a night person and a morning person. I’m a ... leave-me-alone kind of person and give me my morning coffee.”
“You’ve got a bad attitude this morning,” Ava said, quickly pouring her older sister a cup of coffee.
“I got stood up last night and it pissed me off. Do you have any idea what it is like to be in the bar waiting for your date to show, and they don’t? He had the audacity to text me several hours after, and tell me it was not going to work out.” Violet shook her head. “I hate men.”
Ava was not about to tell her sister about the kiss she shared with Pat, or the ride on his bike. She had no idea what she and Pat were doing, if they were even doing anything. All she knew was she felt alive when she was with him.
