“Lucky?” Pat asked.

“Yep, lucky.” Rusty tipped his beer to his lips and took a long drink.

Pat looked at his whiskey and then turned toward his club brother. “My bike was blown up, we were almost blown up, and you think that is lucky?”

“Hell, yeah, I do.” Rusty put his hand against Pat’s chest. “You feel that? It is beating well and strong.” Rusty laughed.

He didn’t like this, but shoved his hand out of the way.

“You know, there are a couple of fresh club pussy that have been looking over here and are wanting a taste of you,” Rusty said.

Pat was already aware of the brunette and the redhead, who had been unable to look away. He knew he was on a lot of the club pussy radar, but he ignored it.

There was a time sinking his dick into pussy was a dream come true. Having multiple women willing to spread their legs for him, and for the club, had been everything he wanted. No commitment. Not having to deal with hangers-on.

The women knew the score. For a long time, it had been great. Only, that was not what he wanted anymore. He’d seen Bull find happiness with Maddie. Even though he knew the club brother was terrified of anything happening to her, the two were happy. They were in love. Even Grant. Foul-mouthed, pain in the ass, mostly a fucking baby, Grant was happy with Aria.

The only woman he wanted was Ava. She was young, which frustrated him. He was not the kind of man who loved younger women. He enjoyed mature women. Fucking relished them, especially in the bedroom.

Ava was an anomaly to him. He had never felt this way about a woman before.

“Go and enjoy them. I’m sure there is an STI or an STD you haven’t caught.”

“Seriously, when am I going to live that down?” Rusty asked.

“Never.”

Rusty sighed. “You sure you don’t want to tag team them? I know you used to enjoy that back in the day.”

“No, go.”

Rusty was gone and Pat sat looking at his whiskey, trying to convince himself sneaking into Ava’s apartment was not the wisest move to make. He was at the clubhouse, knowing she was working. There was a target on him and the club. He had yet to find the person responsible for killing Samuel. Whoever had done it was covering their tracks. They had no other leads.

He’d gone to Dylan, and since the trailer fire, there were no security cameras, not that there were any to begin with. He had also spent many hours looking through the main town cameras for someone who stood out. No one did. Whoever was doing this shit was a ghost.

Carnage had tourists from time to time. There were a ton of locals, and of course people just passing through. No one had stopped by the mechanic shop.

Pat had been so busy, he’d not even been able to do his regular job. Grant was covering his ass at the shop. It was all fucked up.

Which is why he shouldn’t sneak out and go to a blonde’s apartment. This is why he should pick up that glass of whiskey, knock it to the back of his throat, and drink it down.

Only, he didn’t.

He tried to keep his ass in the chair, which is where it was supposed to be. His ass in that chair was the logical solution. Pat never acted on impulse. But this time, he left that whiskey, went out to his bike, and straddled his machine. There was no way to repair the other bike, which pissed him off. It was time to wear this one in and get used to the power of it. Sweets had even offered to decorate it nice for him. At the moment, Pat just wanted to ride the bike.

Within minutes he was on the road and going straight to where he didn’t want to go. It was a little after one, so it wouldn’t be long before Ava was getting off work.

Pat changed his mind. If he went to her apartment, she was going to get fucked. He wanted to sink his dick inside her so damn bad. Instead, he rode out to the coffee shop. By the time he got there, he had to wait a good thirty minutes, and he did so in the shadows.

There were several customers, and none of them caused a fuss as they moved on after closing.

He watched Ava, who was with another woman he knew to be Lauren. They both had blonde hair, but with different shades of intensity. The two were smiling together. She looked so happy.

There was no way he was going to be able to make her happy. He and Ava were two different people. She was young. He was old.

They left the building, and Lauren moved to her car, and Ava went to hers. Lauren left first and Ava was struggling with the door of her car. Now that she was alone, Pat knew he should just leave, but he couldn’t do it.
