“Ach, ya act like we can trust ya to bring the lass back without ya nuck the lass’s nex,” Raymond taunts.

“Her nex will be just fine around me. This is one of Felix’s little friends. She’s half my age. I’ve quit chasing the young ones. They’re too much work, they are,” I reply.

“Aye, ya say that now,” Jonah ribs.

“Yer all too oul to be acting a maggot,” I grumble.

“Ach, ya hear that? The Irish in him comes through. We cheesed him off good, we have,” Jack chuckles.

I roll my eyes then look down at my wristwatch. I let them continue to take the piss out of me as I climb from the driver’s seat and grab the sign I made for the lass.

Felix didn’t have a picture of this cailíní. I’m not sure who I’m looking for or what to expect. All I have is a name. Dean. An odd name for a lass.

She’s probably a little nerdy twig. Now that I’m here, I don’t know what made me offer to come pick this girl up. The airport does a number on me no matter where I am.

I spend enough time in them. I swear, just to keep away from these places, I’ve been considering moving to the States and staying put for once, even before Da and his Alliance request. Living close to Cass has had a ring to it in the last year.

Jack rolls down the back window and leans out of the SUV. I roll my eyes because I can hear his snickering and know he’s not done codding me. It’s good to be back home, but these three can do a number with the teasing.

“I hope ya spelled her name right at least. Wouldn’t want Kaye’s friend to know yer an eejit.”

“Fuck off,” I growl and swing the sign in my hand at him.

“Would ya look at that? Now that’s a fine thing,” Raymond croons as he rolls down his window.

“Ach, what would yer wife say to that?” I say before looking to see who he’s talking about.

I follow his line of sight. My gaze lands on the brown-skinned goddess with the red locs. Her head is down as she reads something on her phone. I allow my gaze to travel over her curvy body.

It’s been a while since I’ve had my hands on curves like those. The things I’d do to that body. She hasn’t lifted her face, but from her body alone, she has my interest.

She gets a bit closer and lifts her pretty head. The air leaves my lungs. She’s damn gorgeous.

She has a deep-brown complexion, but her face is scattered with pretty dark-brown freckles. She looks like a pretty doll. Her full lips have a sexy bow shape to them and her brown eyes are sharp as if the lass has a keen brain in that pretty head.

Her red brows make me believe her carrottop locs are natural in color. I might be a redhead, but I’ve never had a preference for them. However, this beauty has me questioning that.

“Ronan?” she says as she glances between me and the SUV with my brothers hanging out the windows.

“Aye, yer Dean?”

She gives a soft laugh. “Yes, that’s me.”

She has a sexy voice. It hits me right in the groin. My mouth runs dry as images of fucking the shit out of her fills my head.

My brain kicks back in and I remember why I’m here. Kaye has to be about twenty-four or twenty-five. I’ve been trying to make it a habit of dating women closer to my age nowadays.

If this beauty is anywhere near Kaye’s age, I need to avoid her at all costs. I’m not for the mess that comes with the young ones.

Besides, when I look deeply into her eyes, I get the feeling she’s as banjaxed as I am. There’s a reason I haven’t settled down in all this time.

I’ve been fucked in the head for almost twenty-five years. Losing the woman you love and the child she was carrying will do that to a young lad. Life ended for me before it even started.

Quickly, I shut down that train of thought. I won’t spiral into that dark place now. Instead, I reach for her bags and begin to move to shove them in the boot as Jonah steps out and gives her a proper greeting, as Raymond and Jack hop out to chat her up.

I note she has a distinct accent. It’s covered in a few others, but I hear it in there. She’s a New Yorker at heart. I once had big dreams for New York.

Things were so different back then. Da was on board with it all. Dougie hadn’t moved to New York with his lot yet. It was wide open for me to make a name for myself and to establish the McGowan name in more than theory.
