Ian’s sigh said he knew we were both royally fucked.

His pup was definitely a sub and my sewing Dom was going to turn out to be straight.

I was fucked.

“Yep, I need a drink.” And more pizza. Tonight, I was going to eat too much and worry about the real world later.

Chapter 4

Luca

“Roman said I should just spell everything out very plainly, but I’m not sure that’s a very good idea. English was never my best subject in school.” As Emerson wandered around the studio, carefully not touching anything with his hands behind his back, I wasn’t sure if he was being literal or figurative or a mix of both.

Focusing on the first half of his sentence seemed to be the easiest, so I nodded and watched as he leaned over to stare at silk samples that were laid out on a table. “I think Roman’s suggestion has merit. Even if it's not the best idea he could’ve come up with.”

Emerson’s eyes twinkled as he looked over at me. “He was distracted when I called. I think Eli was giving him a blow job.”

Was it a test to see how I’d respond or just his honesty popping out?

Voting for honesty for the time being, I shrugged and kept my tone dry so I wouldn’t encourage him too much. “It wouldn’t be the first time. I wouldn’t recommend calling on a Sunday afternoon even if they say they have nothing to do.”

They could always find something to do.

Giggling, Emerson nodded. “Very good advice. Thank you, Sir.”

Definitely testing the waters.

But for what?

“Aside from stating the obvious, did he give you any other good advice?” What had Emerson been nervous to talk about?

Some of the deliberate flirtatiousness faded but he was still bubbly as he wandered. “Maybe. I’m still figuring that out.”

Giving him space, mentally and physically, I leaned against the table and let him keep exploring. After a few minutes, he started retracing his steps and getting closer to me. “Mr. Luca?”

The name had definitely been a deliberate tactic to look cute and innocent, but since I liked that about him, I let him get away with it. “Yes, Mr. Davis?”

That had the sparkle in his eyes twinkling again, but he leaned into the innocence as he rocked back and forth on his feet. “I know you want me to be happy when we do the shoot, but what if I can’t get the right look?”

We both knew he could get the right look for the more traditional phase of the photography, so I knew his question had to be referencing the erotic side of things. But what I didn’t understand was what he was really asking.

Happy was an obvious euphemism because he was feeling very cute, but the rest…

“Mr. Davis?” I waited until he was aiming those beautiful, wide eyes at me before continuing. “What everything boils down to is that I’m asking you to dress up as a living doll for a fairy-tale collection of erotic photos.”

I gave a vague shrug as he barely managed not to giggle again. It was obvious he was enjoying himself and not making fun of me, but I still wasn’t sure what he was worried about.

“I think anything you could ask me or that you could be concerned about will not be nearly as interesting as my request is.” I knew it wasn’t the most conventional project but I also knew how incredible the pictures would turn out.

Rocking his head from side to side as he swung his arms and started wandering back around the room, he achieved the sweet look he was going for. But I was doing my damnedest not to respond.

I was going to be professional.

“Mr. Luca?” Emerson peeked over at me before he went back to studying a big white board that was crammed with notes and pictures. “Why didn’t you get someone famous to do this?”

It was a very good question.

“My publishing company talked me into going the more traditional route at first.” That got his attention, and as calculated questions flashed over his face, I continued. “We spent weeks picking out several famous models in Hollywood and even one minor celebrity who thought it would be fun and different.”

That was some kind of code speak for a unique way to pick up their career, but I hadn’t minded.

“However, when we started doing the shoot it was very clear that the only thing they were comfortable doing was the most basic shots…and the erotic ones, even the tamest, came out…let’s just say they didn’t turn out.” They’d been disturbing and like I was some kind of perp on an episode of Criminal Minds.

His lips barely curled up at the ends before nodding and looking more serious. “Roman mentioned something about the idea not working out if the model couldn’t get the idea right.”
