Call me crazy, but this right here was one of my biggest fantasies. A strong sexy man dressed as a king or a lord from another era…

“This is tight. Maybe you should just cut the string,” Ezra suggested in a deeper timbre than usual.

“Not a chance. This robe cost the HRS a mint, and it’s one of our most important pieces. I can do it.”

I wedged my pinky into the gold-threaded rope and tugged. Nothing. I was sweating now. I couldn’t handle being this close to Ezra for much longer without melting into a puddle of goo.

“Holden.”

“Yeah?”

“Look at me.”

No can do, sir.

“I’ve almost…got it.”

Ezra grabbed my wrist and swatted the rope till it slipped between my fingers, leaving me no choice but to obey.

No doubt he expected me to come for him with guns blazing. It was how we did things. I pushed, he pulled. We didn’t cooperate or communicate without friction. But we’d been so good today, and the only friction I felt at the moment was internal.

“Hey.” He loosened his grip and used his free hand to tilt my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. “Go easy. If you dig too hard, you’ll ruin the thread and…”

I swallowed hard, losing myself in a sea of caramel and gold and—was he still talking? I blinked in an attempt to clear my mind. When I refocused, he was closer than I realized, leaning in just as I did. And he wasn’t speaking anymore.

Ezra’s eyes flitted from my mouth to my eyes and back. I licked my lips, equal parts anxious and hungry…and yes, a bit disoriented. I felt like we were under a spell, being drawn together like a couple of magnets. There was nothing I could do to stop the forward motion. Our noses brushed, his hand cupped my cheek, and ever so slowly, our lips touched.

It was nothing more than a featherlight caress. I held my breath and idly wondered if he was doing the same thing…until he slipped his fingers into my hair, tilted his head, and slanted his mouth over mine.

And oh, this was even better than the first time.

Ezra’s lips were soft and pliant. He hummed into the connection, sliding his thumb over the tip of my ear as he coaxed a response. Not that he had much coaxing to do. I was eager. Almost too eager.

I did my best to let him lead. It wasn’t hard to do. He was a great kisser…demanding yet somehow sweet. We moved in tandem, letting the gentle press morph into a hungry feeding fest.

Suddenly, nothing here was innocent.

Ezra sucked on my bottom lip, taunting me with a nip or two before licking the seam of my mouth and plunging inside. I didn’t think—I acted. I grabbed a handful of his thick hair and twisted my tongue around his, feasting like a starving man. He tasted like coffee and spearmint, which apparently was a combination I really, really liked, because I couldn’t get enough of him.

We made out in a frenzy, oblivious to our surroundings. I didn’t consider the very real possibility of one of my fellow HRS members walking in on us. I honestly didn’t care. I could have happily straddled his thighs and humped him like a medieval barmaid.

Or maybe slipped my fingers inside his lordly breeches and stroked his cock. I wondered if he was hard now.

In the spirit of discovery, I set my hand on his thigh and craftily moved it through the excess fabric of the balloon-style breeches till the heel of my palm rested on his obviously erect cock. He groaned as he arched into my touch. Then groaned louder when I tightened my hold and stroked him.

Oh…wow.

Voices and laughter drifted from the other side of the curtain. I could make out the occasional “Hark, knave!” or “Fear not, fair lady” above the whoosh of blood to my head. The familiar sound of my fellow Renaissance enthusiasts should have been the ultimate bucket of cold water, but it added an element of intrigue that spurred me on. I wanted him all over again.

I upped the tempo, jacking him a little faster as I sucked his tongue and—

Ezra caught my wrist as he broke for air. “Not here.”

I pressed my lips together and gulped. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was think—”

“How’s it going, boys?” Presley asked, pulling the curtain aside with gusto. “Val wanted me to let you know we’re going to break for lunch soon and try the new vegan café on Lake. Care to join the party?”

“Vegan…uh, thanks, but I’m gonna pass. I need to do some studying this afternoon. As soon as I get this thing off.” Ezra stood and resumed tugging at the knotted tie around his neck.

“Let me help.” Presley skipped to his side and gestured for him to bend to her height.
