He gritted his teeth, holding onto his woman as he flooded her womb.
Dom knew, when it came to Emily, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her. He didn’t know how she had done it, but slowly she had worked her way into his heart, and now she was the most important person in his life. He would do everything to protect her. Because the truth was, he couldn’t let her go. She meant too much to him.
Chapter Nine
“You know, you didn’t have to take me shopping,” Emily said, reaching for Dom’s hands as they worked through the busy city streets.
No one was causing them any trouble, but that probably had something to do with the men who were stationed at the front, sides, and even at the back. It showed no signs of them carrying weapons, but she wasn’t a fool. All of Dom’s men would be carrying guns or knives. She imagined even Dom did as well.
“I wanted to.”
She couldn’t help but chuckle. “You wanted to take me shopping? Isn’t it supposed to be every man’s nightmare? Going shopping with a woman?”
“I’m not afraid.”
Emily laughed. They had already visited three boutiques, and the truth was, she didn’t need any new clothes. Dom had already provided everything she needed, and the man had good taste. He knew what she liked.
However, Dom was insistent, so she had no choice but to play along. Besides, the opportunity to spend the whole day with him was too good to ignore.
She knew her father was causing him nothing but stress. There had been a few late-night phone calls. Dom wouldn’t talk about it, so she had no choice but to ask her mother what was going on. Thankfully, her mother knew all the ins and outs of it. Her father was taking every shot he possibly could in an attempt to end Dom.
Emily was furious. She didn’t know why her father didn’t just leave him alone, or give up. Also, she didn’t know why Dom didn’t just end Nigel. She asked her mother the same question, and that answer was simple as well. Since the sale was invaded, there was a lot of heat on her father.
Dom taking out Nigel would be easy, but with so many eyes on him, it would land him in that fire. Emily didn’t want him going down for anything related to her father. She had no idea what to do.
“You know, I think it is time we got some lunch,” Emily said.
“You’re hungry.”
“Starving.”
She looked up and down the city streets and saw a sign for an Italian café. “Let’s go there.”
Without waiting for him to respond, she grabbed his hand and all but started to drag him where she wanted to go. The roads were busy, but they were able to make it across without any damage, and once inside, there were several quaint tables available.
She couldn’t help but smile as she took her seat, and Dom sat down opposite her. Minutes later a waitress came out, and she had an accent. Emily ordered them both some coffee and whatever their lunch special was.
The waitress looked toward the men, and Emily ordered some drinks and food for them as well.
She suddenly frowned. “Your men don’t have any allergies I should know about, do they?”
“No, they don’t.”
“Oh, good. That is good news.” She smiled. “This is a nice place.”
“It certainly is. You do realize I own an Italian restaurant a little way from here, and you could have anything your heart desired.”
She sighed. “Dom, I have everything my heart desires right here, and besides, I wanted to talk to you freely.”
Dom’s brows went up.
“I want to talk to you about my father.”
She saw the instant darkening of his eyes, which wasn’t good.
“This is not the time nor the place to be having this discussion.”
Emily reached across the table and took hold of his hands. “When the time is right, I want you to take care of it.” She refused to back down from this. It was the strangest thing of all, to be giving her husband her blessing for him to kill her father, but this was the way it had happened. She looked at Dom, and knew this was the right decision.
He stared at her for several moments, and he didn’t make a sound as their waitress came back and placed their coffee in front of them. They both thanked her, and Emily smiled as their men were each given a cup of coffee as well. She loved taking care of people.
“There is never going to be a right or wrong time for this, Dom. We both know that, but I don’t care what happens.”
“You realize what you’re telling me?”
“Yes, I do, and I know that makes me an awful person but I don’t care. He needs to go. I trust you.”
