Now Rochelle, on the other hand, is beyond excited about this. We are, after all, going wedding dress shopping.
I run my finger across the wedding band that I am wearing. When I woke up, it was magically there. It was the perfect engagement, if you ask me. It was very us.
"White is going to look so good on you with that red hair of yours." With how Rochelle talks about me, you'd think I’m a supermodel.
"Yeah, it will match the popcorn," Cosima says.
"What?" I ask, confused. Cosima brushes my hair off my shoulder, her hand coming back with a piece of popcorn in it.
"Oops," I laugh. "That was my snack from earlier." It's my go-to snack in this house because Marcello makes it fresh and pours melted butter over it. I actually had a side of it with my eggs this morning. Sure beats a protein bar. My father would not be pleased. He would probably add extra distance to our runs if he saw the insane amount of butter Marcello allows me to have.
"Everyone ready?" War asks. I double tap the bag over my shoulder. Zero has one too.
"Where's Nick?" I glance around, having forgotten about him momentarily.
"Already in one of the SUVs,” Ronan responds.
“Still alive. Good man,” I tease him, tapping his chest. I’m sure that’s been more than hard for him. I at one point wanted to strangle Nick myself.
Zero tells Cosima to behave, which she will not agree to, earning her a firm slap on the ass. Cosima's cheeks are pink. Yeah, I think they’re into spankings. I don’t get it. I’m not a fan of pain, but who am I to judge? I clearly have a praise kink and this need to make Ronan proud.
Ro stops me before I get into the SUV. “Get your mark,” he tells me before giving me one more lingering kiss, and we part ways, him getting into the other SUV. Ronan has faith in me without hesitation. If he’s worrying, it doesn’t show, but he’s always so calm, or at least he exudes that.
“Do I have a part in this?” Tova asks from the front seat, which War said she had to sit in or she wasn’t going. There was something about safety and it being the safest seat in the vehicle. I have no clue. We all went with it because Tova wanted in, and I was not leaving her out of anything ever again.
"Your part is to be Tova."
"So I'm just enjoying the show again?" Tova debates this. The last time she left the house was when they’d all gone to dinner, where Zero allegedly killed a few people. I didn’t see it happen, so to me they’re still missing persons. They told Tova it was going to be dinner and a show. "Fine, but I'm picking out two of the dresses you have to try on."
"Hey! I'm right here." Cosima gapes at her.
"You always pick out the clothes. She can try on a bunch." Tova pushes right back, and I bite the inside of my cheek to keep from smiling.
"Can I go to the other SUV?" I ask Rochelle, making her laugh. This goes around and around until we’re pulling up to the wedding dress shop.
When we enter, an older woman with silver hair to her shoulders greets us, giving Rochelle a kiss on the cheek.
“We have closed down the shop today for you ladies so feel free to roam. Any dresses you’d like the bride to try on bring over to these racks.”
“I’m a bride,” I say. “That’s weird.” This is going to get me kicked out of the man haters club for sure.
It’s still hard for me to wrap my head around it all. It wasn’t long ago that I was hiding behind a computer screen and keyboard. Now I’m going to be the center of attention. It’s a lot to take in, but I find that the more I get used to it, the more I’m starting to enjoy it.
“Is there anything I can get you to start? Some champagne maybe?” I’m about to take her up on her offer, but then I remember that Tova and Cosima are both pregnant so they can’t partake.
Suddenly, the thought hits me that I could also be pregnant. Ro and I haven’t been using any sort of protection, and we haven’t been able to keep our hands off each other.
Before Ro, I never would have imagined that I would like the thought of being a mom. He changed all of that for me.
“Maybe just some water for now,” I answer.
“Think you got a bun in the oven already?” Cosima teases.
“Alcohol bloats you, and I have dresses to try on.” If I go into the possibility of me being pregnant right now with them, that will be a whole side quest that will derail us. They all laugh. “Can I use the bathroom first?” I ask.
