“I’ll take my vows very seriously, Aurora, and I expect you to do the same. There will be no other men for you.” The tone of his voice lets me know he’s serious.

Hearing him say that he’ll be the only one for me only heightens my desire for him. I don’t even really know this man, but something deep down inside of me tells me I can trust him. Which is why I’ve decided to take him up on his offer.

“You have yourself a deal. I’ll marry you.” I jut my hand out for us to shake on it. Mikael grabs it, pulling me in for a kiss, his mouth claiming mine.

Mikael really is my knight in shining armor.

“This dress would be perfect for you.” I hand her the printout that Ezra and I both liked.

“You’ve picked out a wedding dress for me?”

“We won’t be having any guests for the ceremony, but we can throw a big party later. Let Ruby know if there is anyone you would like to have added on the list.” I add a phone on top of the wedding dress photo. “I’ve programmed my number, Ruby’s, and Marco's. He’s my driver and head of security. If you can’t get a hold of me, you can call him.”

“A phone?”

“This is a temporary card you can use. I’ll get one with your name on it, but I’ve already alerted the credit card company that you will be using it, so don’t be afraid to charge whatever you like. There’s no limit.” I toss the card on the pile. “What else? Ah, yes, the house access is by biometric scans. Marco will stop by and take you to the security office to have your face and corneas inputted into the system. I think that’s it.”

I tuck my phone away and catch a glimpse of her uneasy expression. Stiffening, I replay our conversation to see what it was that might have set her off. Did I give a hint about my animosity toward Blackstone? I was careful to avoid that topic. Was she anxious about the physical aspect of our marriage? When I kissed her yesterday, she responded beautifully. I was tempted to take her then and there but had promised to go slowly.

I wonder what ‘slow’ is in her vocabulary.

“Worries?” I prod gently. “The phone model not to your liking? We can get a new one. I guess there are different colors now.”

“No. The phone is fine. I guess when you said you wanted to get married, I didn’t realize it would be like, yesterday.” She gives me a narrow-eyed stare. “If you were a woman, I might accuse you of having a kid on the way, but you’re a little too flat in the tummy to be expecting.”

“Not to mention the wrong gender, and I did say as soon as possible. Since we are both in agreement, I feel that there’s no need for any delays.”

“Your long-lost uncle didn’t just die and require you to marry to keep your inheritance, did he?”

Laughter bursts out of me. “No, but you’re very cute for thinking that.” She’s suspicious but not of the right things. I gather up her new belongings and draw her to her feet. “Let’s put some mileage on your new card. As gorgeous as you look in my clothes, they aren’t entirely appropriate outdoors gear.”

“To be honest, I’m having second thoughts,” she admits.

I still. “About the marriage?”

“Yeah. When I asked you yesterday why you wanted to marry me, you said you had many reasons, but you only gave me one, and that was to protect me from Edward Blackstone. How do you know him?” She tilts her head and studies me.

“You missed the first reason.” I dodge her question.

“How so?”

“I said you were beautiful. And I wanted you.” I tug her forward and then kiss her again. She opens her mouth, probably to protest, and I take the opportunity to plunge my tongue inside. She makes a squeak of surprise and then melts into me. I drop the phone and card onto the table and scoop her ass into my hands to bring her closer.

Her eyes widen when her panty-clad pussy comes in contact with my stiff erection. I lean against the edge of the table so that she has a better angle to ride me. Her hips start to move, gliding along my hard ridge. This time, the noise from her mouth is lower, more guttural.

I help her along, pushing up to meet her tentative thrusts. I knew from the minute I laid eyes on her that it would be like this. She was born to be loved with passion. It’s probably what attracted her to Edward. An old fossil like him took one glance at her and saw life. He wanted to feed off of that. I suppose I’m not much better.
