“Thanks, Mom.” I smile.

“But I wouldn’t turn down brunch tomorrow!”

“Sounds like a plan.” Jameson grins, giving me and my mom the corny finger-guns, which she gladly returns. “We’ll see you then.”

And then she heads off to her room, which is on the other end of the hall. She chose it when she moved in, so that we’d “have our privacy”—those were her words. And honestly, I think we all appreciate it.

Having her live here was a big step for all of us but a necessary one in her recovery, but none of us wanted to feel like we were stepping on each other’s toes or living in a dormitory where everything everybody did was heard by everyone else.

Especially when we were newlyweds.

Not that our sex life has died down at all since then. If anything, it’s only gotten better.

When you’re a brand-new couple, you have lots and lots of sex, and it’s amazing, because it’s new and exciting, and you’re getting to know each other. But when you truly love someone, like Jameson and I do, the longer and deeper you get into the relationship, the better the sex becomes, because you get to know exactly what pleases your partner and just how to do those things they love. And that’s how things have been progressing for us.

Nothing makes me happier than making Jameson happy, and the same goes for him. The way he touches me, the way he explores my body with his lips and tongue, the way he feels when he’s inside me and is caressing me with his hands and holding me with his arms—it’s beyond euphoric and unlike anything I ever could have imagined. And from the incredible things he whispers into my ears when we are making love, I can only believe he feels the same way about me.

He takes me into his arms and pulls me into the bedroom, which is cast in the beautiful colors of sunset. I take my husband’s hand as he leads me over to the window that looks out over the trees, and we stare out at the sun going down over their tops, sending rays of purple and peach through the glass.

“Quite a day,” he says, kissing the base of my neck so gently that a shiver flows up my spine.

“Quite a day,” I agree as he slips a hand up my shirt. My eyes close as I lean back against his tall, powerful frame. He continues up, pulling my bra away from my chest and cupping my breast with a strong hand. My whole body comes alive like a switch has been flipped inside me. “Didn’t you just say something about eating dinner…?”

“Mm-hmm…” he replies as he reaches two fingers down between my legs and applies pressure, causing heat to flush through me. I reach up and drape an arm up over his neck and pull him closer.

“So…shouldn’t we be eating?” I ask. He moves his fingers in a circle, sending a shock of pleasure straight through me, tugging a gasp from between my lips.

“Are you in a hurry?” he asks, teasing me like he loves to do. Then he’s spinning me like we’re dancing, and I’m facing him, my lips millimeters from his as he undoes my pants. “Because I had something else I was hungry for before dinner.”

My God, he’s so sexy. Am I the luckiest woman alive?

“Oh?” Is all I can say. And I’m barely even talking. My voice is a breath, a whisper dancing off my lips. “And what’s that?”

“You.”

Jameson leans in to kiss me, and I give myself over to him.

I give myself over to him like I did four years ago when I realized I was fighting back against a man who wanted nothing more than to be there for me, and it was my own demons and my own anxieties that were holding me back and potentially keeping me from being able to be with him and be happy.

But I will never turn my back on Jameson again, just like I know he will never do the same to me. We will always be there for each other, and together we have built a life together with a bright future ahead of us.
