“What do you mean?” Anthony said, trying to push the arousal down. This was ridiculous. Coming twice in one evening was more than enough.

Michael’s dark eyes were still hazy with pleasure, but there was something else there too. Apprehension.

“I’m changing,” Michael said. “I... I keep thinking of you as my alpha during sex.”

Anthony tensed up. Michael had called him alpha a few times, but people said stupid things during sex all the time, without really meaning them.

Trying to ignore the way his blood had rushed to his cock again, Anthony said carefully, “Isn’t it natural? Considering what we’ve been doing?”

Michael chewed on his bottom lip. Anthony tried not to stare. Lately he had caught himself looking at that pretty mouth and wondering what it would feel like to kiss it. It was the line he hadn’t allowed himself to cross. Kissing was largely pointless. Unnecessary in order to get off. He shouldn’t want to kiss an alpha. And yet.

“I don’t know,” Michael said, confusion and frustration making his scent sharper. “I thought—I thought it worked differently. Everything I’ve read about alpha/alpha sexual relationships seems to indicate that the clash of wills and battle for dominance intensify every day, making such arrangements toxic and unbearable.” His brows furrowed. “I’m supposed to feel suffocated and uncomfortable. I’m supposed to want to dominate you and show you who’s the alpha here.”

“And you don’t?” Anthony said softly, though he already knew the answer. Michael hadn’t attempted to make him submit since those first few days after they’d returned from Belith, when he’d bristled and bared his teeth at Anthony at the slightest provocation. Something had changed.

Michael shook his head. “Not in a while.” Groaning in frustration, he threw an arm over his eyes, as if he couldn’t bear to look at Anthony as he admitted, “Your scent fucking turns me on these days. It’s definitely not normal, Ant.”

Anthony stared at his flushed cheeks, visible despite Michael’s attempt to cover his face. It was oddly endearing. He wanted to bite them. “You don’t smell as revolting to me as you used to, either.”

Michael removed his arm from his face and looked at him. “I don’t?”

Shrugging a little, Anthony rolled them carefully onto their sides, trying not to pull at his knot. “You don’t smell nice, exactly,” he said slowly, frowning as he tried to articulate his thoughts. “But your scent doesn’t aggravate me anymore. I thought I was just getting used to it, but maybe you’re right. Maybe something is different.”

Michael hummed, a deep furrow between his brows. “Mother said I smell different. And I noticed other alphas sniffing me and giving me weird looks.”

Anthony stiffened. “Other alphas have been sniffing you? When? Who?”

Shooting him a strange look, Michael said, “I don’t remember. Everyone, I guess.”

Anthony didn’t know why it bothered him. But something about the idea of other alphas sniffing Michael made him… agitated. If his scent wasn’t repulsive to all alphas anymore...

His jaw tightening, Anthony leaned in and fit his teeth over the red bite mark on Michael’s neck. He sucked, hard.

“Oh, come on,” Michael said with a laugh. “Why are you chewing on my neck again? You’re making the mark worse—” His words turned into a moan as Anthony ground his knot into him. “No, don’t, I’m trying to have a serious conversation here.”

“You can talk. I’m listening.”

“I can’t hold a serious conversation while you’re sucking on my neck like that. Stop it, Ant.”

Reluctantly, Anthony pulled back. Vicious satisfaction curled in his gut as he studied the bright red bite mark.

Michael scowled, noticing his look, but his face was rather flushed. He clearly wasn’t as against being marked as he pretended.

“Changed scent,” Michael said. “The bite mark not healing. Weird thoughts during sex. Reduced aggression toward you. Your Voice working on me. Scruffing working on me. That’s too many things. I can’t ignore it anymore. Something is very wrong.”

Yeah, when put that way, the changes were alarming. Should have been alarming.

Anthony didn’t feel alarmed. Mostly he just wanted to have Michael again.

He closed his eyes for a moment, exasperated with himself. “I can set up a discreet appointment with Hugh,” he said, meeting Michael’s worried gaze. “He’s my brother-in-law. He won’t tell anyone.”

Michael’s lips pursed, discomfort and unhappiness souring his scent. “He’s still an alpha.”

“He’s an Alpha Omega doctor. He’s seen it all. He wouldn’t judge you, I promise.” If Hugh so much as looked at Michael wrong, Anthony would fucking kick his ass, brother-in-law or not.

“All right,” Michael said at last. “You’ll be there too, right?”

That vicious feeling in his gut intensified, his cock becoming fully hard.

“Of course,” Anthony said hoarsely.

The smile Michael gave him was so pretty Anthony had to kiss it off Michael’s lips.

Michael gasped in surprise, his lips parting, and Anthony used it to push his tongue into his mouth. Michael moaned ad kissed back, sucking on his tongue, his hips starting to squirm, his hole squeezing around Anthony’s hard cock. It was fucking torture—his knot hadn’t softened yet, so they couldn’t fuck again, but it felt exquisite, kissing Michael and having his cock held and milked by Michael’s greedy hole. It was perfect torture. It was perfect. He was perfect.
