“Weirdly good, huh?”

“I think your boyfriend is right,” I told him. “That is incredible, Max.”

“Someone talking about me?” a deep voice came from behind us. Max’s eyes immediately lit up.

A cowboy wearing a black hat came up, wrapping his arms around Max and kissing him.

A moment later, Andrew also appeared behind him.

And every last piece of tension in my body disappeared in an instant, replaced with the same raw hunger I was starting to feel every time he was near me.

Fucking Christ, I had it bad for a football player.

He was in a tight army green T-shirt that somehow made the green and gold flecks in his brown eyes stand out.

He must have been a little cold in the air outside, too.

His nipples were standing at attention, coming through the soft fabric of his shirt, and he ran a hand through his honey-colored hair as he glanced down at me.

He put a cocky look on his face as he saw me, as expected.

But he also had the faintest pink blush appear on his cheeks when he locked eyes with me, and that was my kryptonite.

I have that effect on him.

He is in the palm of my fucking hand.

“There you are,” I told him.

I looked him up and down, not hiding the fact that I was checking him out because I wanted him to squirm a little more internally.

I wanted to deepen that blush, and I also wanted to keep stoking the fire inside him that made him want my cock so badly.

“This is Draven,” Andrew said, nodding at the guy in the cowboy hat. “We were out on the back patio. I challenged him to a foosball game.”

That explained how Andrew was able to spy on me before.

“Nice to meet you, Draven. Your boyfriend makes incredible drinks.”

“He’s kind of a genius with it,” Draven said.

“I’m Gray,” I said, reaching out to shake his hand.

Something about Draven gave me the exact opposite feeling of what had been building up inside me all day today, too. Sometimes I could tell when people had been through a lot of trauma in their past, because every now and then, it was written on someone’s face. Draven had that quality. He had a visible scar on his face, but he also had an intelligent, wise depth to his eyes that couldn’t be faked.

Maybe if I have to be in a bar, the Hard Spot is the best one to be in.

Max had to head back behind the bar, and Draven followed after him.

Andrew sat down in the booth across from me and I didn’t miss a beat. I reached a hand under the table, putting my palm on his thigh.

His quads were pure muscle. I wasn’t sure if he worked out today already but it certainly felt like it. I squeezed the muscle, and then slid my palm upward until I was inches away from his cock.

I found the outline of his cock, dragging the edge of my hand along it, just gently, one time.

Then I took my hand away.

Andrew shifted on the booth seat and tried to stare daggers at me, but I could see something else in his eyes.

“Did I just make you hard, that quickly?” I asked. “Or were you already hard from when I was looking at you before?”

“That’s for me to know, and you to find out if you take me home with you.”

“You’re cute,” I said, reaching for my shoulder bag and pulling out two thick books. “Hope you brought your textbook.”

Andrew had told me he wanted a tutoring session today, so over the last few days, I’d reminded him a few times to bring the book. I knew he was forgetful, but I also knew he wanted to be good for me, so I was glad to see him slip the textbook out of his backpack now.

“It’s like they try to make these books look intimidating.”

I grabbed the book. The front cover was brown, drab, and dreary, with no picture.

“The Roman Empire: Analysis, Inquiry, and Interpretation,” I read out loud. “Not the catchiest title I’ve ever heard.”

“See why I’ve never opened the book yet?”

I hummed. “Just pretend it’s called The Roman Empire: Tons of Gay Sex, Bloody Violence, and Treasuries Filled with Solid Gold.”

Andrew puffed out a laugh. “If it were that interesting, maybe I’d actually be able to learn about it.”

I lifted my eyebrows. “That’s all true, you know.”

“Really?”

“Oh, Andrew, you have no idea how crazy shit got in Ancient Rome.”

I cracked open one of my books on Ancient Rome and told him the story of Nisus and Euryalus first, to catch his attention. They were two warriors who were totally gay for each other and said to be completely in love, and I watched as Andrew’s eyes widened as I told him the story.

“No fuckin’ way,” he murmured.
