“What’s wrong?” Gavin asked, his brows drawn down in concern.
“Oh God,” I moaned. “I’m going to throw up.”
Running past Gavin, I headed into the bathroom, lifted the toilet seat, and puked.
Instantly, I felt Gavin behind me. He scooped up my hair and held it back while I threw up over and over again. I slid to the floor when I finally had nothing left to hurl. Gavin sat and pulled me onto his lap, gently holding me while my body trembled.
“Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone throw up like that.”
I leaned my head against his chest and let out a slow breath. “Oh my gosh, I think the morning sickness finally hit.”
He chuckled. “But it’s not morning.”
“That’s the cruel part of this whole thing; it can happen at any time of day.”
“That sucks.”
“Yeah,” I said with a soft laugh. “It sure does.”
“Do you have glasses or anything up here to rinse your mouth?”
I didn’t want to move. Being in Gavin’s arms like this was pure heaven. I had never in my life felt so safe. But I knew sitting on Gavin’s lap on the floor of the vacant apartment above the store was not something I could do for the rest of my life. “Yeah, the kitchen is fully stocked.”
Gavin helped me up, and we headed into the kitchen. While I got a glass of water, he took some paper towels and ran them under hot water, giving them to me with that sexy-ass smile of his. I rinsed my mouth several times before taking a long drink.
“Thank you,” I said quietly, setting the glass down and wiping my mouth. Tossing the towels into the trash, I leaned against the counter and let out a slow breath.
“I’m sorry, Bry.”
Forcing myself to smile, I shrugged. “It’s part of the deal.”
He walked over, lifted me onto the counter, and cupped my face in his hands. He moved closer, standing between my legs, our mouths just inches apart. I wrapped one arm around his waist and my other hand around his wrist. We were both breathing shallowly, and I’d never wanted anyone to kiss me as much as I wanted Gavin to at that moment.
“I threw up, so…”
His eyes dropped to my mouth. “I don’t care. Are you okay now?”
Biting my lower lip, I nodded. “I feel a lot better. I’ve felt off all day.”
His gaze searched my face, and he smiled. “You got your hair cut.”
I drew back, my brows inching up. “Just a little. How did you know?”
“I notice everything about you. I like it down like this. You normally wear it up.”
Smiling, I slowly shook my head. Most days, I wore my hair back in a ponytail, a messy bun, or French twist. I hardly ever wore it down.
“It’s been a bit curlier since I got pregnant.”
Gavin pushed my hair behind my ears. “I’m glad you’re feeling better, Bry.”
“Me too.”
“I’m sorry I acted like a dick that night. I shouldn’t have left like that. It was an asshole thing to do.”
Nodding, I replied, “It was. But if I’m being honest, I think I barely noticed because I was in an orgasm-induced haze until the next morning.”
Now his brows lifted. “Oh yeah?”
I nodded. “Yeah. You weren’t the only one who was knocked off-kilter. I’d never had that done before. Oral sex, I mean. Let me just tell you, it was way better than my vibrator.”
Gavin laughed. “I’m glad to hear that.”
I chewed nervously on my lower lip. “You know, that urge is back…the one that can’t be satisfied with any battery-operated device.”
A wicked smile played across his face. “Is that so?”
“It’s pretty intense.”
Gavin slowly shook his head. “Why, Brystol Duggan, are you asking me to give you an orgasm?”
“Yes, I am, Gavin.”
Instead of getting straight to business, he searched my face before saying, “You’re so beautiful, Bry.”
I swallowed hard. “It’s the pregnancy. It makes your face…rosy or some shit like that.”
He chuckled. “Never were one to mince your words, but it’s not the pregnancy. You have a glow to you, yes, but you’ve always been beautiful.”
“If this is your way of trying to get tit for tat, I’ve never given a guy oral, but I’d try for you. Or I can use my hand.”
Moving his mouth closer, he kissed my neck, and I let out a soft moan. The kisses moved up my neck until he whispered into my ear, “I don’t want your hand or mouth, Bry. I want you. But I’m a patient man. I can wait until you’re ready.”
He sucked my earlobe, and I swore the room tilted. I had to reach for the counter to steady myself.
“Gavin.” It was the only word I seemed to know how to say at that moment.
“Lift up, Bry.”
The feel of him pulling my leggings down caused an instant rush of wetness between my legs. My sweater dress had moved up and over my hips, and I wore only cotton panties. If I had known this would happen, I would have at least gone for something with lace.
