“Wait, you knew I spent the night there? How in the heck did you know that?”

With a laugh, she replied, “You do live in the same town as I do, right? I heard it from Lori at Timeless Coffee Shop, who heard it from Lewis. He was on a run this morning and heard it from Viola Stevens, a neighbor of Annie Levet, who had heard it from Mrs. Randall when she saw her at Batter Up Bakery. She pointed out that your car had been there all night.”

I slowly sat down on my bed. “Holy shit. What time do these people get up?”

Brystol laughed. “Give me all the details!”

“There’s so much to tell you. Maybe we can get Harper and Cadie and meet for lunch or something.”

“Wait, why can’t you go to trivia night? We have a sitter and everything.”

“Liam invited me to go camping with him and Winnie, and we’ll be leaving tomorrow or the next day.”

Silence.

“Bry?”

“Your first time having sex with him is going to be in a tent? I’ve got to say, I’m a little disappointed in Liam.”

I sighed. “That’s what you’re worried about? Where we have sex? It’s his dad’s RV, not a tent. Did you hear me when I said he admitted to having feelings for me and we fooled around on the sofa?”

“Did you make each other come?”

Heat flooded my cheeks. “He made me come, and we would have gone to his bedroom if Winnie hadn’t woken up.”

Bry let out a little squeal.

“Bry, he had asked Hope for a divorce right before they found out she had cancer.”

Brystol gasped. “Because he had feelings for you, because I thought I’d noticed him staring at you a little too long.”

“No. No, for a different reason.” I rubbed my side temple. “There is so much to tell you, but I’ve got to get showered and head to the bookstore to open it.”

“Are Lou and Granny working today?”

I thought for a moment. “Granny’s off today, but I think Lyndsey is coming in this afternoon for a few hours. Lou will be there around three.”

“Lyndsey?”

“Yeah, she’s a high school student I hired this past summer. She only has classes in the morning on certain days, so she works in the afternoon to give us a rotating break.”

“Here is what we’re going to do. You can do whatever you need to do at the store this morning, then meet us for lunch. No. Wait, we need privacy for this. We’ll bring lunch to you and meet you at your apartment. I have the code to get in. Then you’ll fill us in on everything. After that, we’ll help you pack. This could be tricky, camping, Winnie there. The sexy time might have to wait.”

“Of course it would wait! Besides, I told him we needed to take things slow.”

“Mmm…and him making you come on his sofa and you spending the night there is taking it slow? What is your idea of fast, Aurora? Admitting your feelings and then finding a preacher to marry you the same day?”

“Bry…I didn’t sleep with him. I fell asleep in Winnie’s bed and slept there all night. So did Liam. And Luna.”

“Luna?” she asked, confused.

“Oh, sorry, Luna is my new kitten.”

“You got a kitten! Oh my gosh! She can play with our kitty!”

I laughed. “I’ll get a playdate schedule together.”

“How cute would that be? We totally have to do that.”

“I think that would be fun!”

“Enough of the cats. So, you guys are going camping for how long? And in an RV?”

“Yeah, he mentioned his dad has an RV.”

“Oh! This could be good. An RV will you give you places to do the deed without creepy crawlies getting in your sleeping bag.”

I rolled my eyes. “We’re not doing the deed in an RV with Winnie right there.”

Brystol laughed. “I will bet you a hundred dollars right now that you will have sex in that RV at least twice before the camping trip is up.”

I huffed.

“What’s wrong? Afraid I’m right.”

“No,” I replied. “I’ll take you up on that bet.”

“Okay. So no sex, you win, any kind of sex, I win.”

I could almost hear the smile in her voice. “Fine. It’s a bet. But I don’t think Liam will want our first time to be in an RV with his daughter only feet away.”

Brystol laughed. “Keep telling yourself that, Aurora. So, we’re on for lunch?”

Standing, I said, “Yes. I’ll fill you guys in later, right now I need to shower and get to the bookstore.”

“I should be angry you’re making me wait, but I understand it will be easier to explain it all once. I’ll text you after I talk to the girls and give you a time we’ll be by. Anything special you want to eat?”

“Nope,” I said, pulling my shirt up and over my head, letting it drop to the floor. “Whatever everyone else wants, I’m good with. I’ve got plenty of drinks here.”
