“You two can leave. I’m perfectly safe in the building,” I said for the third time. “It’s locked, and there are a few teachers left.”

They ignored me the same way they had the last two times I had offered.

I went back to my calendar, looking over the summer. I had planned on playing tourist in August. Going to Niagara Falls, spending a few days touring around wine country. Maybe doing the CN Tower, the aquarium. But it would be hard, given everything happening. Unless, of course, Andy disappeared. He hadn’t been seen since the rock incident on Friday, and it was now Tuesday. I was hoping his absence was permanent.

The only good thing about the situation was staying with Damien. Living with him was like a dream, even considering the circumstances. He was larger-than-life to me. Sexy, sweet, caring. Intense, stern, and demanding. Always gentle, yet ready to defend at a moment’s notice. He had told me his name with his team was the Watcher, and I understood why. He was incredibly focused, his eyes seemed to take everything in, and he saw things no one else noticed. We had cooked supper together last night, and I had baked cookies, slapping his hands as he tried to taste the batter, steal chocolate chips, and informed me he had to taste test every batch as they came from the oven. He had pouted hard when I informed him the cookies were for Leo. He pinned me against the cupboard, kissing me until I admitted some were for him.

“The lion’s share, right?” he demanded, moving his mouth up and down my neck, licking and kissing. “For me, right, Ms. Raven?” He slid his hands up my legs, teasing me with one long finger, slipping the digit under the lace of my underwear. “Right, Ms. Raven?” He bit down, sucking my skin between his teeth. “Mine.”

I gasped as he touched me, stroking lightly, the feel of his fingertip soft enough to tease but hard enough to make me want more.

I clutched his shirt, fisting it in my hands. “Yes.”

“Oh, good answer,” he murmured, pressing harder, stroking me. “I feel you, my Ravenna Jade. I love feeling how much you want me. I love hearing your noises.”

Then he brought me to a fast, shuddering orgasm.

He got the bulk of the cookies. I was saving Leo’s for him tomorrow since he had been off today on a personal errand.

My phone ringing brought me out of my lust-induced fog. I saw Deb’s name and answered brightly.

“Hey, you.”

“Hi!”

“How are you?”

“Awesome. Was wondering if we could meet and do the shopping Thursday after school?”

“I think so.” I hedged a little, knowing I had to check with Damien. “I think my dentist appointment is next week,” I lied. “I’ll check when I get home.”

“Great.”

“How’s your week going?”

“Oh my God, Raven. Your luck must have rubbed off.”

“What?” I asked, puzzled.

“After you left, a guy came over and introduced himself.” She giggled. “We went out last night, and I’m seeing him on Friday.”

A shiver of cold went through me. “A guy in the coffee shop?”

“Yeah, he said he was watching me.”

“Deb, you shouldn’t go out with guys who pick you up in a coffee shop. Especially if they say they were watching you.” I felt the stirrings of panic. “What did he look like?”

“You didn’t notice him? The guy in the business suit?” Then she snorted. “Of course you didn’t. Not with an intense and sexy guy taking over your brain. Suit guy is gorgeous. Tall, short brown hair, eyes a dark brown. Great shoulders. He came in after we did and sat in the corner. I kept staring at him, and he came over after you left.”

I relaxed at her description. Andy had shaggy light hair, his eyes were a washed-out blue, and his shoulders were narrow. He was thin, and he told me once he didn’t own a suit. Hated the “big man.” Still, I worried.

“What does he do?”

“Relax. He’s a financial guy. Gave me his business card. I checked him out. Stewart Anderson is his name. Thirty-two. A VP. He was charming. Both on Sunday and last night. Drove a nice car, took me to dinner. A gentleman. He kissed my hand at the end of the evening—both nights. Asked to see me again. Informed me he wanted to take this slow. Then he kissed me softly. No tongue. It was so romantic.”

I blew out a long puff of air. “Ah, okay.”

“I think meeting him in a coffee shop he often frequents is safer than my usual online dating anyway.”

“I guess so,” I admitted.

“Why did you sound so upset?” she asked.

“I, ah, had a bad experience with an online guy. Strangers make me a little nervous now.”

“I’m sorry,” she replied.

“No problem. So, I’ll let you know about Thursday night.”
