His wife stirred, and she turned on her side, facing him. “Kyr?”

He met her questioning eyes soberly. “I don’t know how to put it in words...” His gaze went back to her womb, which didn’t yet have any telltale bump. “But the knowledge that you have my baby growing inside you...” He stroked her womb with care, wondering if it was too soon to feel the baby kick. “It’s frightening, because I don’t want anything to happen to you, but...I gotta admit, it’s sexy as hell, too.”

She turned red, but even so she retorted, “I hope you still think that if I ever become so big I’m unable to see my ankles.”

Pulling his hand away reluctantly, he propped his head on his hand, saying, “Always, psaraki.”

The sexy grin that accompanied the words made her heart skip a beat. Oh. Dear. Lord. Three months married, and this Greek billionaire of hers could still make her feel so hot just by grinning.

“I know that look of yours,” he murmured, his gaze sly.

Drat. She hurriedly wiped all expression from her face, answering, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

But Kyr only smirked. “You’re thinking...” His deep, Greek-accented voice took on a falsetto note. “Oh gosh, my husband’s so hot.”

She burst into peals of giggles even as she protested, “You know, I don’t talk like that.”

“Oh?” He raised a brow and adopted a Southern drawl, saying, “Dear Lord, but he’s so hot.”

She shook her head, clutching her stomach. “You’re so mean.” But they both knew the impression had been spot-on. When her laughter died, she found herself looking into the intense, hazel eyes of her husband.

They smiled at each other simultaneously.

“Are you really happy about it?” she whispered. “You’re the only one among your friends who’s married, and now you’re going to be a dad—-”

He stopped her worries by covering her mouth with his, and when he lifted his head, he said simply, “You having my child is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.”

She fought back tears, seeing that he did mean it.

He paused then asked seriously, “What about you?”

Her eyes widened. “Me? Why wouldn’t I be happy?”

“Are you still thinking of going back to school in your condition?”

Oh.

She hadn’t really thought that far ahead, and Pollyanna was now confused. She still wanted to finish college, badly, but was it right to do that, considering she was now going to have a baby?

“Pregnant women go to work all the time,” she said cautiously. “I think it’s the same with attending to school, right?”

“I’d rather you postpone going to school until you give birth, but I’ll leave the decision to you.” Noticing the unhappy frown on her face, he scolded her, “Stop frowning, psaraki. That’s bad for the baby.”

A helpless smile broke over her lips. “I don’t think that’s been scientifically proven yet.”

“Just go to sleep and stop arguing.” He pulled her close and pressed her face to his chest.

She snuggled close to him obediently, and eyes closing, she mumbled, “I love you, Kyr.”

Even now, he couldn’t say it, but that was okay.

The next day, Kyr and Pollyanna flew to the mainland by helicopter in order to meet with an obstetrician. While both of them decided not to ask about the baby’s sex, Pollyanna still opted for an ultrasound, just to be sure that there wasn’t anything wrong with her unborn child.

And that was when they had their next best news: Pollyanna was going to have twins.

An hour later, and both Kyr and Pollyanna were still shell shocked as they emerged from the doctor’s private clinic. Only when they were on board and the chopper had taken off did they look at each other—-

Their faces broke into smiles at the same time.

“Twins,” she gasped, incredulous and awed.

“Twins,” he confirmed gravely, but his eyes were tender as they rested on her face. Shaking his head, he bent down and kissed her. “Thank you,” he whispered against her lips. “I promised myself that I’ll make you the happiest girl on earth, but you’ve beaten me to it. Right now, I feel like I’m on the top of the world, psaraki.”

“Oh, Kyr.” She threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. “Just when I think you’re incurably mean, you say the sweetest—-ouch!” But she was laughing even as he pinched her cheeks.

“Show respect to your husband, woman,” he mock growled, scowling down at her.

“I love you...meanie.”

His eyes narrowed.

Uh-oh, Pollyanna thought, gulping.

“If you want me to be mean,” he purred, “then so be it.” And before she could react, he was already kissing her, so passionately that it made her toes curl hard. Conscious that they were not alone, she tried pushing him away, but this only made her husband kiss her harder.

Only when the chopper landed did Kyr lift his head, and he grinned at the look on her face. “Was that mean enough for you?”
