“But these can be wrong, right?”

“Sure, it’s not unheard of for one to give a false positive.” I pick up the test I knocked into the sink. “But two? I don’t think so. I think you need to face facts, Mr. De Kysa. You knocked me up.”

It takes a moment for it to sink in. But when it does, his face breaks into a smile so big it’s eclipsing. Eyes. Mouth. Teeth. Cheeks. They’re all smiling.

He takes my face in his hands. “You’re pregnant.”

“Apparently so.”

“With my baby.”

“Well, I hope so.”

He narrows his eyes, but he’s smiling. “We’re having a baby.”

The way he speaks is soft and gentle, and I feel the affection all the way down to my bones.

“Yes, we’re having a baby.”

He kisses me, and its sweet and tender, and it tells me everything I need to know. He wants this baby as much as I do.

He breaks off the kiss and presses his forehead to mine. “I love you, little monster.”

“And I love you, Don De Kysa.”

Without warning, he lifts me up in his arms and carries me into the bedroom.

“What are you doing?” I cry.

“I’m taking my pregnant wife to bed, and we’re not coming up for air until I’ve given you at least three orgasms.”

“Three?”

“Yes,” he says, gently placing me on the bed. “At the very least.”

He pins me to the bed with his powerful body, and I lace my fingers around the nape of his neck.

Feeling a surge of happiness, I look up at him. “How is this my life?”

“What do you mean?”

“Less than a year ago, I was broke, had no place to call home, and then you came along.”

“Technically, you came to me.” He grins mischievously, but then it fades, and fireworks take off in my belly as he places himself between my legs and gives me a look of pure love. His eyes soften. “Because we’re meant to be, Bianca, and no amount of war or bloodletting or wickedness will ever be able to keep us apart. We’re written in the stars, little monster. And no one can ever take that away from us.”

He leans down, and when he kisses me again, I know I am home.
