His hands left her wrists and rather than push him away, she wrapped her arms around him, moaning as he bit down onto her lip, sucking it between his teeth before trailing his lips to her neck. She arched up, her body awakening to his touch.

The tips of his fingers went to her thighs and he started to lift the skirt of her dress. The rough pads grazed across her flesh until he touched the edge of her panties. “I think I’m going to want you to stop wearing these for me.”

“Not going to happen.”

“I promise I’ll make you come, screaming my name every time I feel you without them.”

“Even if I wear them, you’ll do it.”

He kissed her again, hard, stroking her pussy at the same time. She spread her legs wide, wanting his touch.

“Do you have any idea what you fucking do to me?” he asked.

She did, and she couldn’t stop her need for him. She was on fire for him.

He lifted her up and placed her on the counter. He started to work her dress open when there was a pounding on the door and a call for the alpha.

“Fuck.”

“You can’t ignore it,” she said. Even as she wanted him to stay, she knew she couldn’t be selfish with him. The pack needed him more than she did.

Chapter Eight

Rocko took Lucas and Brian with him to the perimeter. The guard, Chris, was already there. He’d radioed in to inform them the humans were back, but they weren’t making a single move to breach the fence.

He climbed one of the ladders they’d obscured behind some of the bushes lining the tree. With the rumble of thunder and rain, they wouldn’t be able to hear him.

“They’re still there, seven of them this time,” Chris said.

He took the offered binoculars. These were motion-sensored and with his eyesight being more than perfect, it helped him to make out their forms. The humans didn’t appear to have any weapons. He frowned as he watched them. They held devices in their grasp and kept pointing at them.

There was nothing on their screens.

“What have they been doing?”

“They arrived, touched the fence, and then started to talk,” Chris said. “I messaged in as soon as I saw them.”

Rocko watched them, fear twisting in his gut.

“This is a decoy,” he said. This time, he jumped down the tree to the ground. The instant he hit the floor, an explosion sounded, rocking the ground.

“Out. Out. Out,” the humans said.

Without waiting for his men, he ran back toward the main town where the explosion had come from.

As he broke through the woods, he saw twenty, or even thirty men, guns firing. Some of his men were already on the floor. They were headed toward the prison camp.

Let me.

His wolf’s anger came to the surface and all it took was accepting his beast as he charged up, his hands changing into those of a wolf. The claws were sharp as he swiped down his opponents. One by one, he took them out, but for some, it was too late.

His men came just as another explosion rocked the area. This time, a gas emitted in the air. The fog messed with his senses but he still fought. The gas took him hard, weakening him.

No.

Don’t give up.

Fight.

He stood tall, fighting the effects of the gas. He was an alpha and nothing took him down. Whatever they had thrown at them had fallen most of his men. Only the strongest were able to fight off the effects, but it was enough to free most of the prisoners.

Looking toward the edge of the perimeter where they’d attacked from, he saw three men. There was always one guy who felt he should be the last one to leave, and Rocko grabbed him.

The truck went, leaving behind a trail of mess.

The gas fog lifted and with it, the effects, but it lasted long enough for most of the humans to make their escape.

“What the fuck was that?” Lucas asked, coughing.

“Science, research. I don’t fucking know. Get this fence repaired. I want any available man on it, and don’t stop until it’s fixed.”

“Rocko, we’ve got some fallen men. They’ve been shot in the head,” Brian said.

“Brian!” A feminine scream filled the air.

Rocko saw through the clearing where Amber was on the ground. One of her legs was missing.

“Oh, baby, I’ve got you.”

“I … I don’t know what happened. I was carrying my dress home ready for this weekend and it … oh … my leg.”

“Get the doctor,” Rocko said, yelling the orders.

His men didn’t allow their anger to interfere with their work. One of their own was down and now they needed to do everything they could to fix it.

The men had known where the prisoners were and how to distract them.

“Get Phillip,” Rocko said.

“You don’t seriously believe he had anything to do with this.”
