As he started moving again—with long, slow strokes this time—Sunny looked into his eyes and thought how lucky she was. She finally had Greer in her life permanently and now they would spend the rest of their long, happy lives together.

And it was all because she’d decided to try…Tempting Her Grumpy Protector.

EPILOGUE

SUNNY

Sunny laughed as she dipped a piece of sweet, honey-drizzled lobla bread into the thick, spicy Triskian stew. The little diner tucked into the park not far from the Sacred Grove specialized in food from a Kindred occupied moon three sectors away. It always smelled of fresh bread and savory herbs, and the green sunlight slanting through the crystal windows made the whole place glow.

Across from her, Kat was sipping a Friskal latté and giving her a sly grin.

“So, doll,” she said, her auburn hair catching the light. “You never did finish telling me—how long were you and Greer at it the other night?”

Sunny blushed, warmth rising in her cheeks.

“Well…let’s just say that once we got going, it was too hard for us to stop. Not that we wanted to, in the end,” she added, grinning. “After he Bonded me to him and realized I’m his Fated Mate, we just couldn’t get enough of each other.”

Kat’s blue eyes twinkled.

“I thought it was something like that. Bonding Fruit is named that for a reason—you don’t usually wind up single after eating it.”

Sunny ducked her head, hiding her grin behind her piece of purple lobla bread.

“That’s certainly been my experience.”

“I bet.” Kat grinned, shaking her head. “It was scary for a minute there once we found out you’d overdosed but it all worked out in the end. You look happy, doll. Happier than I’ve ever seen you.”

“I am,” Sunny admitted softly. Her heart swelled and in the back of her mind she could feel her Bond humming with the quiet, steady presence of the massive Warrior who had Claimed her. “I never thought someone like Greer would want me. He was always so grumpy and growly. But now he’s all mine—and I’m his.”

Before Kat could answer, a deep, possessive voice rumbled through Sunny’s mind, warm as molten gold.

Sunny. I need you, little one.

Her blush deepened until she was sure her face was as red as Kat’s hair. She pushed her plate away and stood.

“I, um—I need to go.”

Kat’s grin widened knowingly.

“Of course you do. Newly Bonded mates can barely stand to be apart for more than a few hours. Go on, doll—go to him. I’ll cover the bill.”

“Thank you. I’ll get it next time.” Sunny leaned over to hug her friend, then sent her thoughts through the mental link she had with her man as she hurried for the door.

“I’m coming, Greer. And when I get there…I want you to bite me the minute you see me.”

Greer’s answering growl of hunger and desire echoed through her mind, making her shiver with anticipation.

And with that, Sunny left the diner, hurrying toward the only place she belonged—straight into the arms of her Fated Mate.

She had never been happier.

THE END?

OF COURSE NOT!
