“It’s okay.” Tabitha wraps her soft hands around my waist and hugs me tightly. “I only had to deal with them for three years. Once I graduated high school, I found a college that would give me a great scholarship and found a job. It wasn’t easy, but I did it all on my own. I interned for Mr. Winston’s firm the summer after I graduated from college, and he offered me a full-time job when my internship ended.” I want to put my fist through the wall at the thought of my girl struggling, but I’m proud of the way she took care of herself. “He is a grouchy boss, but he pays well and I was even able to save enough to buy my own house.” My Tabby Cat is one tough lady and my perfect soulmate.

“I’m proud of you.” I cover her soft lips with mine and almost self-combust as she melts against me. When her tongue tangles with mine, my mind goes blank while my cock wakes the fuck up and joins the party. Electric pulses shoot down my spine as I rub my hand up and down her soft side. When my thumb brushes the underside of one of her luscious tits, we both groan. Before things go too far, I pull back slightly but keep a hold on my girl.

“Thank you.” Tabitha’s face is bright red. I’m not sure if it’s from my kiss or my compliment.

“I want to lay my cards on the table so there’s no confusion later,” I tell her and watch as Tabitha swallows. “I’ve never felt this way about anyone in my life.” She needs to know where I stand. “I will do whatever it takes to make this relationship work.” Boy, that’s a goddamn understatement. I’d give my left nut to keep her with me. “I know we have a lot to work on, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make you fall for me.” Great. I sound like a fucking insecure asshole. I’m about to backtrack when my girl surprises me.

“I’m not sure how we can make this work. I mean, I live in Colorado and you live here, but I’d like to try.”

“That’s a relief.” I just can’t resist poking the Tabby Cat. “Because I’d hate to have to hold you hostage until our twentieth wedding anniversary.” Her eyes widen comically. In fact, she looks like one of those little rubber toys that have the big googly eyes.

“Anniversary?” she sputters.

“You don’t think I’m doing all this for a short roll in the hay do you?” It’s time she realizes I plan to make her mine. Forever.

“I have no idea where this is going or what’s happening.” Tabitha throws her hands up in the air. “It’s happening so fast. One minute, I’m about to make a fool out of myself in front of a bunch of drunk men, and the next, I’m spending the night in a mob boss’ guest bedroom. It’s been a confusing twenty-four hours.”

“Well, let me make it perfectly clear to you.” No use holding back now. I’ve already come this far. “I fell for you the second you appeared on that fucking stage, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make you mine. I want you to move in and live with me forever.” I hope that’s clear enough for my little skeptic.

“Oh.” My girl sits back and looks around the room for a few seconds, and I start to worry that things aren’t going my way until she smiles at me. “You might have to let me make a few changes around here.” She points around the antique-filled family room. “This is totally not my style. I need to add a little color and spruce things up.”

“Whatever it takes to make you happy.” That’s fucking easy. She can change whatever she wants. Hell, I’d live in a fucking seventies-themed orange and avocado green home if it meant keeping my Tabby Cat happy.

Glancing down at my watch, I realize I’m fifteen minutes late for my meeting with Tony. “I’m sorry to leave you to your own devices for a little while, but I have business to take care of.” I hug Tabitha close and lean down to place a kiss on her forehead. “It shouldn’t take me more than an hour or so.”

“That’s fine.” She smiles up at me. “I really need to check my emails and message my friends. Since my computer is at my hotel, do you have a computer I could use?”

“There’s a computer in the hutch over there.” I point to the antique hutch against the wall. “Come over here and I’ll get you logged in.” I get her logged in while Bert and Ernie settle into their bed in front of the large picture window. While my girl checks her emails, I head to my office for my meeting with Tony.
