“Now, you have to marry me as soon as possible,” I tell her. I’m not really giving her a choice because there’s no way I’d ever let her get away from me.

“I can live with that.” Rose cuddles against me as we lie back down.

I spend the entire flight to Belldonnia trying to make friends with Princess, the spoiled rotten Rottweiler puppy, but she isn’t having anything to do with me.

“Aww,” Rose coos down at the dog. “Is my baby holding a grudge?” I swear the goddamn animal turns and smirks at me as my rose bud gives her attention.

“You’re going to have to find a way to get along with her.” Rose sits next to me on the leather sofa that lines the entire side of the private plane and calls the stubborn fur ball. “Princess, come sit over here.” That damn animal turns her head away and pouts while my girl tries to convince her to listen.

“Get over here,” I growl after finally losing my temper. The goddamn dog is taking my attention, and I don’t fucking like it. Plus, it’s time to show this animal who the big dog is in this family.

The dog glares at me for a moment before giving a big sigh and rambling over to lie at my feet. “Good girl.” I reach down and give the huge animal a pet, hoping to make friends with her. My hopes are in vain.

When we land in Belldonnia, the damn mutt refuses to walk off the plane and I end up having Dalton carry her to the car. “Don’t worry.” Rose pats my arm. “You’ll win her over.”

I can’t believe I’m worried about convincing a dog to like me. The fucking water in Silver Spoon Falls really did a number on me.

Once we’re home, I come up with the perfect way to make friends with the dog—buying her a boyfriend. Before I really think about what I’m doing, I have Forrest find me a well-bred and trained Rottweiler puppy. It takes him two days since the nearest breeder is in Germany, but I tell myself it will all be worth the wait. I might be crazy, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make my girl happy, and I know making friends with her stubborn dog is at the top of the list of things she’s wishing for. The day Forrest goes to pick up Duke, our new puppy, I arrange for my girl to have a personal shopper come in to help her pick out a wardrobe. While she’s occupied, I have Forrest and Logan bring the dogs to my office so we can see if my brilliant plan will work.

“You are fucked in the head.” Forrest carries the massive puppy into my office. “Now, you have two dogs to win over instead of one.” He shakes his head, not fully appreciating my brilliant plan.

“Watch the master in action,” I tell my friend and have Logan drag Princess over to meet Duke.

“I’m watching,” Forrest tells me and stands next to Logan while Princess sniffs and then growls at the much smaller puppy.

“Did you get me my secret weapon?” I ask Forrest.

“Yes, but I’m pretty sure they will commit us both if anyone ever finds out I had water flown here from Silver Spoon Falls so you can get your girl’s dog to fall in love with the new puppy.” My adviser shakes his head and walks out the door. A few moments later, he returns with a doggy bowl full of water.

“Here.” Forrest sets it in front of Princess. “You need to drink.” The dog looks back and forth between us with a bored expression on her face. I’m starting to worry my plan will fail if I can’t get her to drink the water when the dog leans over and empties the bowl in one long slurp.

“Now, all we have to do is wait for it to work.”

Forrest glances over at Logan and shrugs. “How long do you think it will take?”

“You’re asking me?” Logan growls. “I’m not joining this insanity. One of us has to remain sane to take care of the other two.”

My bodyguard isn’t so smug two hours later when Princess is falling over herself to get Duke’s attention. “Now, it’s time to show Rose what I did.”

“Good luck with that.” Logan laughs hard before reaching for his phone to text Dalton. Ten minutes after he sends the message asking my rose bud’s bodyguard to bring her to my office, there’s a knock on the door.

“Show time,” Forrest mumbles as I call for them to come in.

“You don’t have to knock, rose bud.” I walk over and wrap my arms around Rose’s waist. “I have a surprise for you.”

“Please, don’t tell me it’s another dog.” She leans around me and stares at the two Rottweilers cuddled up on the settee in the corner. I nod my head and watch her gorgeous eyes narrow. “Have you lost your mind?” Rose hisses.
