Alistair keeps staring at him like he’s jealous the girl chose him.

But I couldn’t care less.

And when the girl on stage stops twirling the pole and makes her way to me, probably thinking she could get some quick cash, I turn my head. But she still tries to sit down on my lap.

I throw her off, and she falls to the ground. Audible gasps erupt in the VIP room. The girl throws me a snooty look and scoffs. “Fuck your money, scrawny bastard.”

I grab her by the throat and lean in. “The name’s Felix Rivera.”

Her eyes widen. “Bu-bu… that’s this club’s … name.”

“Exactly.” I throw her back to the floor, and she crawls away slowly, then scrambles to her feet and rushes to the back of the VIP section, disappearing into the dressing room.

“Jesus, relax a little,” Dylan tells me.

“I’m not here to touch some titty,” I say.

“The only tits he’s interested in are Penelope’s,” Alistair jokes. “But those are the only titties he’s never going to get.”

I pull my gun out of my pocket and point it right at his forehead.

Everyone’s suddenly screaming, and they all run out of the VIP section, including Dylan’s private dancer, but I don’t fucking care.

“Penelope. Is. Mine.”

Alistair stares me down but then sighs out loud. “Fine. I don’t fucking care.” He looks away and folds his arms.

I slowly lower my gun and tuck it back where it belongs. We’re all alone in the VIP section now.

“Now I lost my fucking tiddies too,” Dylan scoffs. “Goddammit, Felix. Really?”

“Got the whole damn university throwing themselves at your feet, and you want to stick your dick up some whore you have to buy?”

“Because she doesn’t know me. It’s more fun when they don’t want me,” Dylan retorts, sighing out loud as he leans back in his seat. “I think you can relate.”

My eyes twitch, and I look away again, back at the pole, even though no one is dancing. But I don’t need some random girl dancing around the pole to get excited. Because in my mind, I see a girl twirling right in front of me, slowly peeling off her clothes while having eyes only for me, her purple hair sweeping from left to right across her shoulders as she tilts that pretty fucking head just the way I like it.

“You know, I think it’s about time we kicked up some dust at the university. Have a filthy fucking party right on campus grounds,” Dylan muses.

“Oh, it’s Halloween soon,” Alistair adds. “Perfect for a disgustingly rich fuck fest.”

“Oh yeah, I love it already,” Dylan says, licking his lips.

“Knew you would,” Alistair says, snorting. “Of course, only you can come up with this, even when your dad already hates our guts.”

“Eh, fuck him. He doesn’t care about a party at the frat house. He’s too busy running that boring university.”

Dylan grabs the paper and takes a big sniff of the coke, getting high as a kite.

But even though I took some, I don’t ever get addicted to drugs, or to alcohol, and not even to life.

There is only one thing I can ever get addicted to.

Vicious little whorish girls I can bend and degrade.

And I know a girl like that will definitely show up at a Halloween party, ready to kill.

PENELOPE

I make my way through the hallways of the university on a mission to find that fucking Nathan guy, wherever he is. All I have to go off is the picture my sister put in her diary, but I’ve got it imprinted in my retina. I’ll find the fucker someday. He can’t hide forever after sending me that fucking note.

My sister never mentioned Nathan to me, and his spot in the diary is tiny. Why wouldn’t she talk more about him if he was the bully who made her jump?

“What course did we have again?” I ask Crystal to stop myself from overthinking things.

Crystal checks her schedule. “We’re both going to Financial Risk Management. It’s just around the corner.”

Crystal and I share this class and one other with Kayla, so she sees this as a prime opportunity to get to know all about me. But I’m not the kind of girl to simply dish out everything there is to know about me. Because people always have ulterior motives, and anything I say can and will be used against me.

I come to an abrupt halt in the middle of the hallway, where Alistair tacks a piece of paper onto a bulletin board hanging from the wall. He glances over at us.

Fuck.

I hide behind a pillar and pull Crystal with me.

“Whoa, Pen, what’s going on?” she asks. “Who did you see?”

“Alistair.”

Her eyes widen. “Those Society boys?”

I put my finger in front of my mouth.

When I lean sideways to gaze at Alistair, he smirks and casually saunters off, pinning more of the papers as he goes.
