“Your father is trying to convince me to develop another app.”

“So you guys are bonding?”

He chuckled. “Something like that.”

Over the past few months, we spent a lot of time at my parents’ home, the house I grew up in. I think for both of us, it would always feel like our home too. We both grew up here. Ethan and my father were getting to know one another, and it was an amazing sight to see. I loved seeing them grow closer with each passing day.

Later that night, we were in my old bedroom. My parents kept it looking the same for me, always telling me this would forever be my place too.

“Ethan, you need to stop,” I chastised as Ethan lay on top of me on my bed.

“But you used to like it when we messed around in your room. Do you need me to climb through the window to remind you?”

I laughed. “I’d love to see you try to climb that tree. It’s not so easy anymore. You’re not a teenage boy.”

“No, baby, I’m all man.”

“That you are.”

I kissed him deeply.

“This isn’t going to get me to stop.”

“What if my daddy walked in?”

“I’d show him the diamond on your finger and remind him you’re bought and paid for now.”

My mouth dropped open. “Ethan!”

“What? You’re my property now.”

“You’re shameless. We can’t have sex right now.”

“I’ll be fast.”

“You’re never fast.”

He grinned. “I thought that was a good thing.”

“It’s a great thing.” I smirked. “But not when my parents are downstairs.”

“We’ve had sex with your parents downstairs before.”

“Yeah, but that was different. We didn’t have two houses we could screw in.”

“Is that what we’re doing? Screwing? I thought we were trying to make a baby.”

“Ethan, bite your tongue. If my mom hears you, she’ll kill me.”

“You’re not going to tell them, then?”

“Absolutely not.”

“What if we get pregnant?”

“I’ll tell them it’s a miracle. My mom would murder me if she knew I might be pregnant in Vera Wang. Besides, we’re not supposed to be actively trying. You’re supposed to be pulling out.”

“I always forget that part.”

“Yeah, I’m sure.”

“What?” he scoffed. “Blame your tight, wet pussy.”

“Ethan!”

He pecked my lips. “I can’t wait to see you in your dress.”

“You’ve seen me in plenty.”

“Those weren’t for me.”

I sincerely expressed, “They were always for you.”

He wiggled his eyebrows. “I want to see you in silk.”

“Good to know.”

“Okay, now let me in.” He reached for my panties.

“I let you in this morning. You still have that eighteen-year-old stamina.”

“Stop being sassy.”

“But you like it when I’m sassy.”

I smiled, rubbing my mouth against his. “My dad is going to kill us if we don’t go downstairs soon.”

“Your dad and I have an understanding.”

“What’s that?”

I wasn’t surprised when he announced, “You’re mine now, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Ethan

Livvy was with her mom in the kitchen while I sat with her father in the living room.

“I never got to thank you for loving my baby girl the way you do.”

“I don’t need to be thanked for that.”

“If I could go back, to this spot on the couch actually, I would have never asked you to let Livvy go.”

“I know, sir.”

“You’ve always been good enough for her. I’m sorry for how I treated you, Ethan. You never deserved it.”

“You just wanted what was best for her.”

“You’ve always been what’s best for her, and I hate that it took me so long to see it.” He paused for a moment. “Livvy tells me you don’t have anyone but your uncle in your life.”

I shook my head. “My mom died of cancer when I was a baby, and my father is… well, he’s… to put it bluntly, a piece of shit.”

“You close to your uncle?”

“As close as you can be with the man who raised you.”

I couldn’t believe how much her old man had changed in what felt like overnight. Our relationship was better than I ever thought it could be. The man looked at me with admiration. He regarded me the same way he peered at his colleagues and friends at the country club.

“You know, sir, you’re a big reason I’m as successful as I am.”

He narrowed his stare.

“I wanted to prove to you that I could be good enough for your daughter. You see, sir. I’ve always been in love with her, and I knew you wouldn’t accept me unless I was on your same caliber, so I did everything I could to make sure I would be.”

“Ethan, I—”

“I understand. I didn’t then, but I do now. I’d want the same thing for my baby girl. Especially some boy who didn’t have a family with your status. I made myself a promise that I’d be that man someday. I don’t think I would have been as ambitious if it weren’t for you, so in reality, thank you for pushing me to be the best man I could be. Almost like a father would.”
