Sean came home with Grace a couple of hours ago. She seemed upset but promised she just didn’t like therapy that much and said she was going to rest before our date. I escorted her to my apartment and hugged her at the door. It’s getting harder and harder not to show her how much I want and need her. After spending my life with my body dead—at least below the waist—constantly having the one woman I want so close is killing me.

I’m staying so hard that it’s painful as hell.

“Wow,” Grace says as she walks onto the patio. I will my cock to behave, take a breath and turn to face my mate.

She’s so beautiful that she takes my breath away. She’s wearing the dress I had Ettie and Leo pick up for her. I don’t know shit about women’s clothes. I mean, I’m a guy. I’d prefer Grace naked every day and night. Still, the turquoise silk shirt and matching pants are beautiful. The pants are loose and have pockets in the side—which her hands are currently buried in—but they cling to her in all the right places—namely her perfectly apple shaped ass. The shirt hugs her breasts, and it takes everything in me to drag my gaze up to her face. That is probably a mistake because her teeth are nibbling on her bottom lip, worrying it. I long to kiss it, suck it into my mouth and carry her to my bed. I know I can’t do that and I’m suddenly realizing that tonight will be a form of torture.

I smile as she pushes some of her glossy blonde hair behind her ear, while shifting on her feet. “You look beautiful, Gracie,” I croon, stepping close to her.

“Is this where we’re having our date?”

“Yeah, I was hoping to show you a little bit of my world. Is that okay?” I ask, suddenly worried that my surprise falls short. Maybe I should have taken her out somewhere. I know girls like that kind of thing. The truth is, even if it wasn’t dangerous for Grace out there right now, I still would have wanted our first date to be like this.

“I’d like that. I’d prefer it, really. It’s been a rough day.”

“Therapy with Dr. Cooke didn’t go well?” I ask, instantly concerned.

“Dr. Cooke had a family emergency. He’s referred all his cases to Dr. Brashear.”

“Dr. Brashear?” I repeat, instantly worried. I had all of Grace’s doctors checked out. I don’t know anything about this Dr. Brashear. I don’t like that at all. I make a mental note to get Sean to help me dig up all we can on this new doctor before her next appointment.

“Mm…” she moans.

“If you don’t like her, we can request someone new, Grace. I will help you find someone you’re comfortable with.”

She smiles at me, but I can see the stress lines around her eyes. I don’t like it and knowing I can’t do anything to help her makes it worse.

“Dr. Brashear is a man, not a woman,” she answers. “It’s not him. He was nice, a little cold. My mind is just tired of me not knowing who I am and keeps short circuiting. I had what Dr. Brashear called a mini breakdown in his office. He was great, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t feel like an idiot.”

“Sweetheart, if you want, we could have our date a different night.”

“No, I want to spend some time with you. I don’t feel so much like a circus freak when you’re around.”

“You’re nothing but perfect, Gracie.”

She walks into my arms. I hold her close. My heart beats heavy in my chest. This woman owns me, and she doesn’t even know anything about me.

GRACE

I’m so caught up in the view that it takes me a minute to even try the food in front of me. I suppose I zoned out. That’s better than fainting because of a vision in my head. Thankfully when I came back around earlier today the images were gone and Dr. Brashear was just a normal doctor worried about his patient. I didn’t tell Seven or Sean about the incident and I’m not going to. I feel enough of a freak as it is.

I shake off my thoughts. Time with Seven has been nice and I want to concentrate on that. I turn my attention back to the food. The thin pasta is covered in a delicious-looking red sauce with a side of crispy garlic bread. My stomach rumbles as I twirl my fork in the pasta, taking a big bite. It’s so good that I close my eyes and sigh as I chew.

When I open them, I see Seven staring at my mouth, struggling to suppress his smile.

“This is delicious!” I tell him as I take another bite. “Did you cook this?”
