“Coby, I have something to tell you, too,” he said much later as we lay spent on the couch together, with me sprawled on top of him.

We’d already gone two more rounds, so it took all of my remaining energy to lift my head and peer down at him in the semi-dark. “Okay…what?”

“We have to get married soon. Much sooner than I promised you.”

“What? But I thought you said we could wait until June?”

“I know,” he said solemnly as he stared at the ceiling. “It’s not going to happen. I’m sorry.”

Truthfully, he didn’t sound sorry at all. I wasn’t stupid. There was some regret at disappointing me, but moving up the wedding just meant I was his that much sooner. Whatever had forced his hand was just an excuse to force mine.

It wasn’t just that I wanted a summer wedding. I needed time—time to reunite with Hunter, time to make sure Roshaun pulled through, and time to know that I wasn’t making an irreversible mistake. I know Ocean said I could divorce him in five years, but time changed people. How could I really be sure it wouldn’t change him? I was already falling for Ocean, and that’s what scared me the most—how deep I’d gotten so quickly.

It terrified me.

And then there were these other feelings I still haven’t been able to shake. They haunted me, and keeping them a secret from Ocean was getting trickier by the day.

Shifting onto the wide cushion next to him, I huddled close to him for comfort, even though he was the one knocking me off my axis once more. I tilted my head back to meet his gaze and found him already watching me. “So when are we getting married?”

“The day before Christmas,” he answered.

My stomach sank, but I didn’t have time to question the reaction because Ocean yanked me under him again and shoved himself deep inside of me with a conquering groan that set a deep chill in my bones.

“You want it again?” Ocean murmured just before sunrise after I woke him with my hand down his boxers. Addicted now, we’d spent the night fucking on every surface of the apartment before we finally fell into bed a few hours before sunrise.

“Fuck me,” I demanded as I stroked him. “I want it so much.”

“Yeah?” Ocean smiled as he rolled and shifted his weight on top of me and shoved my thighs apart. “Beg for it, wife.”

“Please fuck me again,” I whimpered as my head rolled back and forth on the pillow. “Never. Stop. Fucking me.”

“If you insist, greedy girl. Are you wet for me already? Good girl. Look at that fat ma swallowing my dick,” he praised as he slid inside of me. “Fuuuck, Coby.”

OCEAN

“Again,” Coby pleaded as she writhed underneath me. “Fuck me again.”

Chuckling, I lowered my head to her shoulder and tried to catch my breath. I had just fucked and licked her into three orgasms. My balls were fucking empty, and I was out of time. “I got to go, sweetheart,” I said as I pulled out of her perfect pussy and kissed her soft lips. “The streets are calling, and you’re meeting with my cousins today to finalize the wedding plans.” Coby pouted as if she’d rather do anything else. I couldn’t help myself when it came to her, so I kissed her one last time. “Be good.”

I left the bed to shower and dress for the day, and then stepped back into my room to find Coby gone. Needing to set eyes on her one last time before I left, I tracked her down to her library and peeked inside to find her also dressed and perusing one of the shelves on the second floor.

Day by day, they were getting fuller and fuller as Coby put my credit card to good use after getting over her initial hesitation and realizing I wasn’t one measly shopping spree away from being broke. It would take a lot more than that—generations of bad financial decisions—before that happened.

It’s been a couple of weeks since my father threw down his ultimatum.

Two weeks and no sign or word from Hunter.

Unbeknownst to Coby, I’ve been spending every waking moment that I wasn’t with her looking for her roommate.

It was as if Hunter vanished into thin air after her confrontation at the hospital with Kellan. We eventually caught up with him, but Hunter’s been hard to find ever since. I’ve been writing some pretty fat checks to keep the police off her ass.

I didn’t want anyone else getting near it before me.

I’d tried calling the burner a few times since she stole it from Kellan, but Hunter must have ditched it by now because my calls always went unanswered. Smart girl.

The phone wasn’t traceable, but she obviously knew better than to leave herself open to temptation.
