Fuck.

I have to stop being drawn to her like a magnet. She’s taken. That’s the thing about it too. Do I just want her because I can’t have her? Is it the challenge of the forbidden that draws me to her?

I just don’t know.

All I know is I’ve wanted no one this badly. And it’s not just her pussy I’m after. I can get that anywhere.

No, she makes me laugh.

She’s unexpected, and right now it’s exactly what I need.

Roman stares at me like I’ve grown a second head. “You ok?” he asks.

“Yeah.” I shovel a hand through my hair. “I mean, no. It’s Swan.”

Roman whistles low under his breath. “I knew this would fucking happen.”

“What?” I get on the defensive.

“Man, I see the way you look at her.”

I move to the window, staring out at the hills of Saint Pierce, spotting my club far off in the distance. “I don’t look at her in any special way.”

Roman laughs and bounds from the couch, moving to stand next to me at the window. He follows my line of sight. “Remember when you first found that building for the club? How happy you were that your dream was finally coming true?”

“Yeah.” The memory rushes through my brain like it was yesterday. I’d looked and looked, the city trying desperately to thwart any chance of me opening a sex club in their town.

“I know you never planned for shit to go down like this.”

I blow out an exasperated breath. “I sure as fuck didn’t. I feel like I’m losing the place.”

Roman’s eyes meet mine. “You’re not losing anything. You just feel out of control at the moment because of everything going on.”

Is that why I’m seeking Swan’s company?

Am I clinging to her so desperately because I can’t handle the shit going on with my club?

No, it feels like something more.

“Yeah, maybe. I need a drink.” Roman follows me as I walk to the built-in bar in my study. “I’m feeling like there’s too much built-up frustration and I’m about to crack.”

Roman leans against the bar. “That means you need to get laid. Why don’t you just join a room tonight and pound some random slut’s pussy?”

I could do what Roman says, easily. I could join a room and let myself go, but it wouldn’t satisfy me. “No. I’m fucked.” I pour scotch into two tumblers.

“Why is that?”

“Because I don’t want anyone’s pussy but hers.” I hand him a drink.

He lifts the glass to his lips, shaking his head. “Yeah, brother, you are fucked.”

“I have to get to the club.” I drain the scotch, letting it extinguish the flames of desire burning deep for Swan. “Will you be there tonight?”

“Yeah, Ledger and I tried to get in contact with Kurt Merrick. His secretary says he’s out of town. Typical.”

I frown. “That sure makes him look guilty.”

Roman shrugs. “Yeah, I’m stalking his social media, but there’s nothing. It’s like he’s gone radio silent.”

“Scroll back. See if he’s ever done anything suspicious, and call the secretary, try to get his cell number.”

“I called his cell, disconnected.”

“What the fuck?”

“Kurt’s unreachable. But Ledger and I are going to keep working different angles. We’ll reach out to his friends.”

I scrub a hand down my jaw. “Should we talk to his father?”

Roman nods. “I’m thinking that may be our next step.”

“I agree.”

“Need any help with Brandon?” There’s a glint of mischief in his eyes.

“What did you have in mind?”

Roman cracks a wide grin. “Maybe we rough him up like we did those Chekov brothers.”

I nod. “Call Ledger, have him meet us there.”

He’s already pulling out his phone. “On it.”

Roman follows me to the club in his black SUV. When we arrive, Brandon’s waiting by the front entrance, scrolling through his phone until Roman and I walk up on him.

“I need to speak to you,” I say.

He pockets his phone. “Sure. What’s up?”

“Not here. Inside,” is all I say. Before I open the door, Ledger joins us.

We head into the club, and I grab a seat in one of the secluded booths near the back.

“Have a seat, Brandon,” I tell him.

He slides in across from me, and Ledger and Roman stand behind his side of the booth, watching.

“You’re going to answer a few questions for me,” I say.

He glances at Roman and back at me. “What questions?”

“Important ones,” Ledger whispers beside his ear.

Brandon shakes him off. “Ok.”

“Are you sleeping with Sugar?” I steeple my hands on the table in front of me.

He doesn’t even need to answer. His eyes give him away.

“Yes, ok? Fuck,” he says.

“What have I told you about sleeping with the girls here?”

“Not to sleep with them.” Fear resonates in his voice.

I have to know this man is loyal, and, right now, he’s broken my trust with Sugar.

“Are you sleeping with any of the other girls?”

He shakes his head. “No.”
