He slid his hands up her back and hugged her tight before lowering his lips to hers and kissing her.

It started out innocent enough, but seconds later, he eased his hand to the back of her neck and guided her to tip her head to one side, deepening the kiss. She tasted like…bubble gum, and he didn’t hesitate to stroke the inside of her mouth before gently sucking on her tongue.

Damn, she made him want her. He wished he could swing her up onto the changing table, strap her down for safety, and peel her clothes off. He wanted to see all of her, taste her, make her writhe on the table until she was panting and begging him to let her come.

They were both panting when he finally broke the kiss.

“Wow,” Rose murmured. She was flushed, her cheeks rosy, her lips swollen and wet.

“Yeah, wow. It’s going to be hard to resist you, Little girl.”

“I’m not sure I want you to, Adam.” Her voice was husky, sexy, tempting. And the way she said his name. His real name… It bore into him and made him wish for things that were inappropriate. It was too soon.

“Another time, Little one.”

Damn, he was hard though, and there was no way to hide that fact from her. She could surely feel his length pressing against her tummy.

Chapter Six

Rose had never felt even half what she’d been feeling from the moment she’d met Adam three days ago. She was having trouble remembering how to breathe as he rubbed her back and stared down at her.

When he set his forehead against hers, apparently trying to catch his own breath too, she sighed contentedly. This was really happening. After years of thinking she might never find a Daddy of her own, she was in Adam’s house—in his nursery, no less—feeling all the warm and fuzzy thoughts she’d only ever had when reading her favorite romance novels.

It felt like she was actually inside one of her books. Surely real life couldn’t be so titillating. She was pretty sure this was real though. Unless Adam was hiding an ugly side, he seemed to be the real deal. Her Daddy.

The timing sucked. She’d just opened a business. She worked long hours. She was going to be exhausted tomorrow after spending this time with him. It was late. She never stayed up this late.

Plus, all her days in the near future were going to look like this—long hours at Stuff-It followed by dropping into bed exhausted. In addition, it was the holidays. She had more business than usual with Christmas approaching.

“Where did your mind go, Little girl? You suddenly look sad.” He cupped her shoulders and leaned back to examine her face, his brow furrowed.

“I just remembered all my real-life demands and how I don’t have time to be your Little girl right now,” she pointed out sadly.

He cupped her face. “Rosebud, you already are my Little girl. I know you’re busy, but we’ll figure it out together. Promise me you’ll keep an open mind. I’ll come help you close up at night and we’ll spend late evenings together like tonight. We can have mornings too. I’ll make sure I don’t have early meetings for a while so I can be with you until you go to work as often as I can.”

He sounded so sure they could make this work. It scared her a bit because she didn’t have his confidence. She couldn’t visualize how she could possibly spend evenings and mornings with him without losing sleep and growing increasingly more exhausted. “I’ll fall asleep at the wheel if I leave here at midnight and get up early to go out to breakfast more than one day,” she pointed out.

He kissed her briefly. “Then we’ll cut out the wheel altogether,” he proposed, confusing her.

“I’m pretty sure it would be worse if I started walking home,” she teased.

“Stay here,” he blurted. “Stay here with me. You can sleep in your nursery until you’re ready to move to my bed. I’ll make sure you get eight hours. I’ll even tuck you in and make you breakfast so you head to work each day well rested and fed.”

She dug her teeth into her bottom lip. Was he serious?

He kept talking. “I mean it, Rosebud. I know it’s fast, but what can it hurt? I’m not asking you to let me into your body yet. I’m asking you to let me show you what a fantastic Daddy I can be. Let me take care of you when you’re not working. Give me all your free time.”

She glanced to the side, eyeing the gorgeous inviting daybed, not overlooking the railing that could be lifted to turn it into a crib. This was madness though. “I hardly know you.”

“There’s no better way to decide if I’m the sort of Daddy you want to know better than anyone alive for the rest of your life than to stay at my house while we feel each other out.”
