“Thanks, Core.” I return her hug and keep moving to find my wife. We spot each other at the same time, and she takes off running, and I stop and open my arms for her, catching her easily. She buries her face in my neck, and I do the same with hers. I stand here in the middle of the chaos of celebration just holding her. This moment is so much fucking more with her here to share it with me.

“I’m so proud of you!” Rowan says, pulling back.

I smash my lips to hers, needing to kiss her. I need the taste of her on my tongue before I can thank her. Eventually, I pull away, knowing now is not the time to ravish my wife. “Thank you, Mrs. Reynolds,” I say, pushing her hair back out of her eyes. “I hope you’re ready to celebrate tonight, wife,” I say, bouncing my eyebrows.

Rowan tosses her head back in laughter. She’s radiating with happiness. After the last few months, it’s great to see her relaxing and facing life with joy and laughter. Each day, she comes out of her shell a little more. She shows me that her past didn’t break her; it only made her stronger. Just seeing her push forward every day tells anyone that she’s a fighter.

“Number one in the program, and number one in my heart.” She grins as she turns around to let me see her back. She’s wearing my jersey with our name on the back. After a closer look, I see that Mrs. Reynolds is embroidered inside my number.

“I’m fucking you with nothing but this jersey on when we get home,” I growl into her ear.

“I don’t know, Mr. Reynolds. Are you sure you know the play?” she teases.

“Baby, I can run the play all night long.” I wink at her before I dive in for another taste.

This is my future, this incredible woman by my side. I can’t wait to see where life takes us.
