Rider slammed into me once, twice, three times, and he let out a roar that shook the bed frame as he buried himself deep inside my body. Heat flooded throughout me as he planted his seed.

After a moment of catching his breath, Rider looked down at me and smiled before pushing my hair off of my sweaty forehead. “I love you so much, Trey.”

“I love you too.” He made me feel incredible, but my body wasn’t satisfied. There was still one thing I craved above anything else. I turned my head to the side and requested, “Do it, Rider; make me yours.”

His gaze floated down to my throat before he leaned in close. My pulse raced when he kissed my flesh, and my breath caught when he tickled me with the tip of his fangs.

When they pierced my supple skin, there was only a brief flash of pain before a fierce, all-consuming bolt of pleasure rocked my body. I moaned when his teeth nicked my collar bone, and let out a long sigh of contentment when he pulled his fangs free before licking my wound closed.

“How does it look?” I asked excitedly.

Rider’s eyes glistened when they met mine. “Perfect.”

I gasped when a faint green light appeared within my chest. It started as a small circle, then stretched and fanned out like the roots of a tree. It covered the expanse of my chest before coming to a halt. It glowed brighter each time my heart thumped before slowly fading away.

“Our souls are now forever linked,” Rider explained reverently. “Our lifelines are intertwined, and we are eternal mates.”

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his full weight on top of me. My cum squished between us, but I didn’t care; I needed him as close to me as I could get. I needed to feel him against my skin; to feel his heart beating in time with my own.

As I lay there reveling in my love and joy, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was different. I was missing something. I searched my brain until the answer came to me. “I don’t want a cigarette,” I thought out loud. After sex, I should be craving one, but I had no desire to light up.

Rider lifted his head and smiled at me. “Our bond has taken away your human addiction, and anything that could harm your body.”

“Huh. That’s a lot more fun than a nicotine patch.”

Rider snorted a laugh while shaking his head at me. “Come with me; I want to scrub your beautiful body in the shower…and then get it all messy again.” He laughed once more at how quickly I scrambled out of the bed.

We’d just finished making love, but I already craved his body again. I knew I could never get enough of him. Plus, I wanted to hurry into the mirror to see my fresh new mating mark that I’d wear with pride for all time.

Epilogue

Rider

I smiled as I looked around the living room at all of my friends…dressed in lounge pants and grandpa sweaters. Not long ago, Rowdy was displeased with my attire, but now he was eager to join in. Because today was our weekly book club meeting, hosted by Trey and myself.

It had been the brilliant idea of my mate as a way to stay connected with our friends and share something that we enjoyed. In exchange, we all went to Pride Place with Rowdy once a week, and took part in weekly rock climbing with Ridge.

By exploring each other’s interests, I had never felt closer to my packmates. And they were thrilled that I was getting out of the house more. But the best part of all was getting to witness my mate take part in something he loved.

Trey came alive when he talked about the books he read. He had great insight and helped me understand the text better, even if I’d enjoyed the story countless times. Everything was more beautiful through his eyes.

“Okay, are we ready to start?” Trey asked our friends, who were digging into the hot chocolate and cookies that Zane made for everyone.

Rowdy was the first to speak. “Can we talk about how badass it was when the vampire ripped off that dude’s head? He took out his whole spine!” We were currently discussing a vampire love story, which was Rowdy’s pick. For him, bloodier was always better.

“That’s what happens when you fuck with a paranormal’s mate,” Trey offered with a shrug.

While Zane and Ridge chimed in with their agreement, I smiled at my mate. I would do anything to protect him or defend his honor.

It was a little funny that Fate had delivered everyone in my pack a mate who needed healing. With Zane and Grayson, it took a physical route, but with Trey, his wounds were mostly mental. He didn’t see his own worth, and pushed everyone away before they had the chance to hurt him. Trey’s confidence had grown so much since we met, and I was thrilled for any part I played in that.
