Johnny came at me, prowling like a tiger going after its prey. He dropped a kiss to the tip of my nose, told me to get dressed in what he laid out for me, and only what he laid out for me. He also dropped another bombshell, and that was to be prepared for a late night. I moved toward the bed, picked up the gold metallic form-fitting spaghetti-strap contraption with a deep V. Luckily, the dress came with a built-in bra, so I was good on that front, but there wasn’t a hint of underwear to be seen.
I knew what that meant. We’d talked a lot in the late hours of the night, my head in the crook of his shoulder after he’d taken me hard and rough or slow and sweet. And depending on our mood, but sometimes after we’d talk about the details of Night Moves and us going there, I’d be the one initiating another round. Tonight will be our first foray down to the sex club area. We both have rules: no touching others and no letting others touch us. I’m more of a voyeur, and he’s known that about me for years. The thought of watching others, the sexuality and the noise from others in the throes of ecstasy, well, it heightens my desire for my husband, makes me downright feral for him. I’ve since learned watching me watch them turns Johnny on.
“Oh my gosh, Winnie. I can’t believe how beautiful this is. It’s incredible. Thank you so much,” Lennie greets me, her sister, Minnie, in tow. Kenny comes to surround us, and we all give each other hugs.
“Oh my gosh, this was meant to be. Lennie, Minnie, Winnie, and Kenny!” Lennie’s sister is a hoot. All week, they’ve been in town, and everyone has been soaking up having their family around. Lennon has an adopted family of sorts. Her and Minnie’s parents were shit. Feel that to my bones. And Clay, Minnie’s husband, has known them forever. The Johnsons, who consist of Russell and Catherine, the king and queen bee, followed by six brothers, yes, six, took the pair under their wings and are here as often as possible. The boys, as Momma Catherine calls them, all have wives, some have kids, some are trying. Needless to say, between her side and Asher’s, along with our massive friend group, tomorrow’s wedding is going to be ginormous.
“We rhyme,” I reply, a drink in one hand, my purse in the other. Every day, it seems a few more things appear in my closet—a new pair of heels, a new purse, or a new dress. This is all Johnny’s doing. When he started bringing up needing to make up for lost time, along with jewelry, I drew the line. I don’t need any material items. I only need him.
“I can’t believe I’m getting married tomorrow and I’m pregnant.” Lennie places a hand over her protruding stomach. Her wedding is tomorrow. Yep, we’ve had a week packed full of every activity under the sun. Between our family settling into this new home life and all of the family in from out of town, it’s a wonder we’re not all sleep deprived.
Tonight, Sebastian is staying with whom he refers to as mi abuela and mi abuelo, and he’s also insisting on going home with them tomorrow after the wedding. Johnny and I discussed it and agreed it’d be better for him to be home, have a slow kind of Sunday, lazing in our pajamas while Johnny makes our choice of breakfast. This way, when Monday comes around, Seb will be ready to rock and roll in daycare. It’s also the first day back to work for Johnny, and come Monday, we’ll all be going our separate ways every morning. I’ll go to my new-old job, where Allison greeted me with open arms earlier this week, telling me the other girl just quit, and I could start that very same day. I filled her in on the situation with Johnny and Sebastian. She understood that we’d been trying to integrate Seb into a routine, though we didn’t have to do much. He’s taken all of the changes in stride. Johnny said he would; it was me worrying that he’d have challenges along the way.
“My brother is getting married tomorrow!” Kenny cheers.
“My sister is getting married tomorrow!” Minnie joins in. I let out a belly laugh, take a sip of my drink I brought over from Johnny’s office. The guys are currently having some kind of guy talk and will join us when they’re done. Their weekly occurrence that happened before I left continued during my time away, and they still do it till this day. Johnny mentioned the chat tonight would be about Tysen and getting his own plane, whatever it will entail.
