Ian let out another deep breath as he studied the food. “He said he wanted me to have little time, and he said I didn’t need to hide it from him.”

Not completely sure where his worries were going, I nodded as I handed him his burger. “You’ve had a stressful day, and let’s face it, this weekend was stressful too. He wanted to do something nice for you, but if it’s too soon, he’d understand.”

When all I got was a shrug, it didn’t give me a lot to go on, but it said I wasn’t exactly on the right path. Thinking back to his first confession, I tried again. “It’s okay if you want to show him your little side. He’s Uncle Cohen, remember?”

A smile tugged at his lips as he nodded slowly. “And you’ve already talked to him about my little side.”

“That’s right, and about how cute you are.” Stretching out my leg, I wrapped my foot around his ankle. “He’s not going into this blind and he’s been open about your little side from day one. He even said he likes seeing my Daddy side come out.”

“Is that going to be weird for you?” Being able to focus on me seemed to have helped his communication skills. “I hadn’t thought about that.”

“I don’t know if it’s going to be weird.” I shrugged and took a bite while I thought about it. When nothing helpful came to mind, I swallowed and gave another half shrug. “I think if I was trying to be his sub while I was being your Daddy, then it would be difficult.”

I wasn’t sure that made sense, so I tried again. “They don’t really overlap in my mind, so I think they’re going to be separate headspaces?”

There were a lot of ways to have scenes with a switch, but nothing that I’d seen online or even heard about from friends felt right with the Daddy part of our relationship.

“Does any of it overlap in your head if we were…” Ian blushed again, focusing on his fries as he forced the words out. “You know, doing scene kind of stuff where I wasn’t little?”

Scene kind of stuff?

“Oh, that’s different. You’re right.” That was harder to picture in general, but it was more about me than either of them. “Okay, with me as a regular Dom in a scene…yeah, I think that’s easier to imagine, especially if things get switched up.”

Oh.

He was thinking about scenes with the two of us…with me and Cohen.

Now the blushing made sense.

“We’ll figure it out.” I wasn’t sure if it was the confident tone or the words but something had his head popping up. “We just need good conversations and to remember we’re taking things one step at a time.”

And so far, they’d been small steps all around…so maybe he was also trying to tell me he wanted bigger steps?

When his gaze dropped back down to his food, I thought I was on the right track. “How about if we go out later this week, just the two of us? A date-date not a Daddy-little date.”

Did that make sense?

As he peeked up again, I smiled. “Maybe we go to the movies or out to a club. Anything you’d find fun and grown-up.”

That got a chuckle from him and something about the way he shifted said he was feeling lighter. “That sounds good as long as you think Cohen won’t mind?”

He hadn’t been jealous so far, but Ian was right—we needed to talk things out and not make assumptions. “I’ll let him know the plan later, but I’m not worried.”

Nudging his leg, I let my smile go wicked. “I am curious to know what kind of questions he’s going to have about our date, though.”

And my blushing boy was back.

He’d definitely been thinking along the same dirty lines as I’d been based on how red his cheeks had gotten. “I…you’ve always…”

Tripping over his words, he finally stopped and just shoved several fries in his mouth to get out of having to talk. Laughing, I shook my head at his antics but decided to save him. He was my boy, after all. “Is it my job to answer Cohen’s dirty questions?”

More fries got shoved in as the blush refused to fade…but he nodded, so he wasn’t completely running away from the conversation.

“Then Daddy to the rescue.” When he finally took a sip of his drink and didn’t reach for any more fries, I chuckled and shifted off my chair so I was crouching down beside his. “But I think I remember hearing something about my boy handing out bribes, so I’m going to need something to help me remember to save my naughty boy.”

His blush came back as I turned him in his seat, but being embarrassed didn’t stop him from wrapping his legs around me and tugging me closer. “A bribe, huh?”
