I watch her leave and then get my ass in gear. I promised my girl dinner, so I leave the office and head to the market closest to my house, because like a moron, I offered her something I don’t have, like basic food staples.

I never thought that I’d meet the girl of my dreams today, but I damn sure did. Now, I just have to convince her it’s not crazy as fuck to be mine.

Chapter Four

Tatum

I have no idea how I got through that meeting without ripping off my clothes and begging him to take me. I have never had this reaction to a man before, and to be honest, I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. I need this job for my portfolio; it would do wonders for my clientele, not to mention I'd be able to decorate it just how I want.

I must say the thought is appealing, and I really want to see what I could come up with for the house, but how am I supposed to be professional when all I can think about is banging my new boss. It takes me way longer to get my raging hormones back under control than I would like to admit.

How the hell does this man have this kind of effect on me? I am a strong, confident woman. I am not going to be ruled by my libido’s determination to come back to life. I am a professional, and I am damn well going to act like it. I tell myself as I start to put some different patterns and fabric swatches into my bag that I think he may like, along with a few paint color palettes. By the time I am walking out my office door, I have ten minutes to get there, and I am pretty sure my bag is one strong wind away from having the straps break, and all of my stuff ends up on the ground.

I huff as I get into my car and put it on the passenger seat. I know he said that he wanted me to decorate my dream home, but I want him to feel like it is his home, so I will make sure he helps me pick some of the stuff he likes. After the meeting, he gave me a price range of what my budget was going to be. I about shit a brick at the number of zeros at the end of it. Sure I have had some pretty wealthy clients in the past but never one to this extent. Hell, just thinking about spending that much money has me wanting to throw up. My goal is to always come in a little under budget while making sure I’m giving them exactly what they were looking for. He could have three houses and his entire office building redone with the amount of money he casually put down on that little piece of paper.

When I pull up to the address on my GPS, I instantly love the place. It's an adorable three-story house with huge bay windows. It is perfect for a family, and I immediately start making mental notes on the paint it will need on the outside. Right now, it is a god-awful orange color. Grabbing my bag, I make my way up the steps to the front door. Before I can knock, the door opens, and I am pretty sure I just swallowed my tongue. I thought he was sexy in the office with his light gray suit and blue tie but looking at him now with his dress shirt sleeves rolled up, revealing thick corded forearms and the top three buttons undone with just a hint of hair poking through has me wishing that this wasn’t a business dinner.

He folds his arms and clears his throat. My eyes snap to his face, and the predatory smile he gives me has my thighs clenching and my heart racing.

"Like what you see, Ms. Lafontaine?"

I feel the heat from my face start to move down my neck, and I know there is no way to hide the blush. So I do what any sensible woman would do. I square my shoulders, stand a little straighter, and look him dead in the eyes before speaking.

"So… what if I do?" Did that just come out of my mouth? That was not at all what I was planning on saying. I thought for sure something more sensible would come out. But no... my sass has decided to get the better of me. He throws his head back and laughs.

“You’re determined to keep me on my toes, aren't you?” His reaction surprises me, causing my mouth to pop open. Still chuckling, he moves to the side and gestures for me to walk into the house. “Come on in, precious. I figured we could do a tour of the house before we have dinner.” I make my way into the house.
