“This one looks like you,” Silver pointed out.
“I definitely don’t have those boobs,” I admitted. “But that’s one of his longest-standing posters he’s had around. He had that when he was fifteen. Got it off the Mac Tool Truck. I’m convinced he thought it looked like me and he was trying to embarrass me by putting it up in his room.”
“I could see him doing that,” Baker snickered. “He’s funny like that.”
I tapped the envelopes against my lower lip before I said, “It’s kind of one of my goals. One day, I want to create one of those beer posters for him. I’m tempted to put it up all over his walls over these.”
“Why not do it?” Searcy asked.
I looked at her. “I don’t know anyone that I trust enough to take half-naked photos of me.”
Her brows furled. “I do.”
“Really?” I asked.
“My sister,” she said. “She’s been taking photography lessons for a while now. She thinks that she wants to do it for her career.”
“She’s really good, too,” Baker interjected. “Like really, really good.”
“She could do it today.” Searcy had her phone out and she was texting away. “We could go get our hair blown out instead of getting our nails done. Makeup done after that. We could all take beer poster photos for our men!”
I grinned. “I’m down!”
So that’s how I ended up in the middle of nowhere with six women who were associated with the Truth Tellers MC surrounding me.
“So what, exactly, are you looking for again?” the photographer, Searcy’s sister, Calliope, asked.
I explained my vision for a second time that day, the first time coming when I’d been in Audric’s office as I explained the history behind the beer posters.
“I want to make a beer poster kind of thing for my man,” I explained, loving the way “my man” felt on my tongue. “He was always into those posters when he was younger. They were everywhere. And I think he’d really like one of me.”
Calliope grinned. “Oh, I love it. I love doing new things.”
“I would’ve loved getting one on his bike.” I sighed. “But I have no doubt he would’ve noticed if that was gone.”
“What about going to where the bike is?” she suggested. “I don’t mind.”
I thought about it, then said, “It’s in the driveway at his house, I think.”
“And he won’t be there?” she asked.
“Not for a while. He has a lunch thing with his employees. Then he has a few bids he has to give at a few new job sites. After that, he has to go deal with his mother,” I said. “Depending on how much time we take out here, we should be able to get to his house in plenty of time.”
“Did you say that he had acreage?” Calliope asked as she looked around the downtown Dallas alley we were standing in.
“He does,” I confirmed.
“And it’s not far from here?” she asked.
I shook my head. “No.”
“Let’s go there instead,” she said. “I originally wanted it here because of the lighting, but I think I can make it work at Audric’s place.”
Again, we piled into the Suburban, and we were heading back to Audric’s place.
“We should stop by the store and get some new underwear,” Aella suggested.
I looked at my watch, then at the road as Aella drove.
“I think we have time,” I admitted.
Aella pulled into the mall parking lot, and we were in Victoria’s Secret minutes later, though I’d stopped to get a colossal cookie from the Cookie Factory, first.
I was nibbling on it while checking out a G-string thong when Searcy said, “This would make your boobs look fantastic.”
I looked at the lace, see-through bra and said, “Okay.”
I took another bite of cookie, then grabbed eight bras and just as many thongs and headed for the fitting room.
I tried on several, choosing four sets before I came out of the fitting room.
We all checked out half an hour later, all armed with enough lace and silk to take over a country.
Fifteen minutes later, we were driving up to Audric’s place.
“Oh, this is going to work perfect,” Calliope declared.
We went through hundreds of poses before we got to one final shot that Calliope was thinking.
“Oh, for this one…” Calliope said. “Can you stand right there, next to his company logo on his work van?” She paused. “Yes. Now, cock your hips, turn slightly and look over your shoulder. Let your hair…yes, like that. Perfect. Now, sit in the open doorway, let your heels rest on the edge right there. Yes!”
We never made it to margaritas.
We did, however, make it to Searcy’s and Aella’s houses so that they could take their own photos.
Tomorrow, Calliope would be getting Silver’s and Baker’s.
By the time we ended the day, I was so fucking happy I could scream.
Audric had given me this.
These ladies.
This life.
This freedom.

I thought I was losing weight, but it turns out my sweatpants came untied.
