Take a step back in time.

Eddie is back at our holiday house here in Spain with his four younger brothers and sisters, two boys and two girls.

I’m on the beach meeting the man of dreams.

The one that didn’t get away.

Christopher turns, and as he sees me he gives me a breathtakingly beautiful smile; his dark hair is messed up. He’s wearing a white linen shirt with the top buttons undone and boardshorts.

But it’s his heart that I see.

The blinding beautiful light that shines from within him.

“Hi.” I smile as I approach him.

“Hi.” He beams, he’s holding a flower in his hands, he tucks it behind my ear and then kisses me softly, his lips linger over mine as he holds my face. “You came,” he whispers.

I smile against his lips; our story could have been so different.

“Of course I did, you’re the love of my life.”

He kisses me again. “I’m still going to steal you from your husband.”

I giggle. “You’d hate him.”

“I heard he’s a real fucking wanker.’”

I laugh out loud and he does too as we hold hands and stare at each other.

“Thank you,” he whispers.

“For what?”

“For loving me just as I am.”

My eyes well with tears and his silhouette blurs.

“For giving me the most wonderful life I could ever have dreamed of.”

He kisses me and it’s so filled with emotion, powerful and full of love.

The perfect end to our story, and yet just the beginning.

He takes my hand and begins to wade into the water. “This time, Grumps, I’m doing what I should have done last time.”

“What’s that?”

“I am fucking you in the ocean.”

My mouth falls open.

“And I don’t give a fuck what your husband says.” He bends and whips my bikini bottoms off and throws them into the darkness. “Be gone,” he yells.

I laugh out loud. “Don’t throw them away, how the hell am I going to get out?”

He picks me up and hurls me into the air. “Who fucking cares, we’ll stay in here forever.”

The End
