Boomer got the softest look on his face and reached out to wipe away a tear clinging to her cheek. “Too late, sister. I’ll give you something else to ruin that perfect face of yours. Thank you.”

“Don’t.” She shook her head.

“Thank you for raising that kid,” he said solemnly. “Thank you for making him into the man he is. He’s worthy of my girl, and I’m proud to have him as a son-in-law.”

Yep, she was crying. And that was good, too. She’d never fucking cried before she’d met Theo Taggart. He and his amazing, unusual family had cracked her wide open, and it had made all the difference.

They’d taught her how to love. How good it was to be loved.

“Thank you for raising the smartest girl I’ve ever met. The kindest. I’m so proud to be her mother-in-law.”

“We’re going to be the best grandparents,” he said with a smile.

“Boomer, stop making Erin cry.” Daphne grabbed her husband’s hand. “I’m sorry. He’s been very emotional the last couple of days. He’s done a lot of talking to his younger self.”

Boomer shrugged. “I’ve heard it’s healing.”

“Enough with the healing. Let’s get to dancing,” Daphne declared.

Grandparent. She was going to have grandbabies. She was going to watch her son settle in with the love of his life, and one day her daughter would do the same.

She’d come to this place angry at the world, closed down and sure she would be alone.

She was so surrounded by love.

And Daphne was right. It was time to dance.

She downed the rest of her champagne and walked up to the DJ, taking the microphone. “Hey, Theo Taggart, this guy’s about to play some Taylor Swift and we’re going to dance the night away because I am so in love with you.”

A loud whoop went up, and she saw Big Tag laughing as he pushed his brother forward. The Taggart brothers had been ribbing each other all day.

Her husband was suddenly front and center, looking deliciously sexy with his tuxedo coat off, the white sleeves of his dress shirt rolled up. His smile was brighter than any sun, and he filled her whole fucking soul with joy.

“You know I never turn down a Taylor Swift song,” he said as he lifted her up and twirled her around. “And I never, never turn down you, gorgeous.”

He hauled her onto the dance floor as the song began.

A long road. That was what Boomer had called it. Such a long road to get here, and she wouldn’t change a single turn or curve, even the worst ones.

Erin leaned against her husband and realized the world was still opening. There were still glorious adventures to be had.

She danced under the stars and looked forward to every single day she had with these people.

With her family.
