“That’s because that wasn’t his house; it was a rental until. This one was finished to his specifications.” There’s a wrought-iron gate Enzo pulls up to. Two guards are placed on the outside. I’m sure they’re armed to the teeth, not blinking as we pull through after he presses a button. It’s then that I see Nico’s house. My brother and Celeste are no slouch in their ridiculously amazing condo. Our parents have a nice house, too. Gone is the trailer we once grew up in, a new home in its place. And I’ve even been to Nico’s family’s house. It still leaves me with my mouth hanging open. There’s a terracotta brick driveway that you can hear beneath the tires, what looks like multiple levels, until we round the side of the house. Enzo presses another button, opening the garage before pulling in. My eyes pop out of my head even more. This is kind of ostentatious and another side I’ve never seen of Nico. There are three cars, his black SUV much like the one I’m in now, a black sports car similar to something like Wylde would drive, and beside it is the sheer beauty of a vehicle in such perfect condition that you only see it up for auction for so much money it could match the amount of a house.

“Jesus, have I been living under a rock? I mean, I know Nico came to my place a lot, but have I really been that dense?” The words tumble from my lips, worried that maybe I’ve been self-centered this entire time. I mean, I’m sure that’s not the case, right? Nico hasn’t said a peep about moving, another dimension I’ve yet to uncover.

“No, he’s only been in this place a week or so with the way things have been going. Nico’s been busy.” I hold back rolling my eyes. Enzo is definitely team Nico in every way that counts, which hey, no problem, man. I’m just talking out loud when I shouldn’t be. Lesson learned.

“Ah.” I choose to remain silent. The garage is still open when Enzo puts the vehicle in Park. I attempt to open my door with no luck. “Um, you want to press the unlock button so I can get out?”

“No, Miss Hayes, please wait till Nico or myself help you out.” I sit back in my seat, eyes still focused on the pristine Shelby Mustang and not everything that has me questioning the reason I’m here or why I’m with Nico. A restless Journey is likely going to make all kinds of ideas pop into my mind, like why all of a sudden is Nico taking me out when we’ve kept this relationship a secret of sorts to protect me as well as himself? Is there a reason that I’m here hours early, and now I’m stuck in this vehicle until Enzo or Nico deems it okay for me to step out? It’s all so weird.

“I’ve got her, Enzo. You can head out.” The door is open, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“Hey.” My voice catches when I take in the fact that Nico is shirtless, droplets of water clinging to his chest, hair damp from what I’m assuming was a shower, though it could have been from the pool I’m sure he has with the size of his house. My hands itch to slide along his skin, feel the heat beneath my palms while having his lips on mine.

“I’ll grab her bags and place them inside, then; I’ll be gone for the day. Tony is going to deal with the donations later this week.” It seems Nico has everything under control, which makes the stupor I’m currently under become clearer.

“Thank you, Enzo,” I tell him. Nico’s hands go to my waist as I move to get out of the SUV, him helping me down and pressing me against him.

“You’re welcome, Miss Hayes,” Enzo states.

“Vita mia, come with me.” It’s not a question. There’s something he needs from me, and while I should question the hell out of every aspect of our lives, I don’t. I feel like a lamb being led to slaughter with doubts plaguing my mind even though I know Nico wouldn’t purposely hurt me.

Nico

“Nico, slow down. I’m not going anywhere.” I’m fucking this up, I know I am. All of this could backfire on me. Hell, I’d be surprised if it doesn’t. Even with the quick wit that I have going for me, the way I’m practically dragging her around, needing her lips beneath mine, wanting to drive my cock so deep inside her she doesn’t know where she begins and I end, Journey’s not an idiot. It’s not stopping me, though.

“I know you’re not. I’ll never let anyone take you away from me.” It’s not long after I walked through the door earlier, but this time it’s with her beside me, my arm wrapped around her waist, guiding her through the laundry room off the garage that leads to the kitchen, attempting to calm my dick down. Something Enzo surely doesn’t need to see, and I won’t allow him or any other fucker to see either.
