Georgia accepted the gift with a frown. “You already bought me a birthday present, and an expensive one at that. You didn’t need to get me anything else.”

“Sure I did.” Courtney grinned. “It’s just a little something I thought you might enjoy.”

Georgia was definitely curious to know what was inside. “Can I open it?”

“Not until you arrive wherever you’re going,” her sister said with a shake of her head. “Speaking of which, where is Drew taking you?”

Georgia walked back to her bedroom to finish packing while she chatted with her sister. “I honestly don’t know,” she said, putting the gift into her suitcase to open later. “He didn’t give me any details. Just said it would be a surprise and to pack casually.”

Courtney made herself comfortable sitting up against the pillows on Georgia’s bed. “Oooh, I love a man with initiative.” She waggled her brows. “Are you excited?”

Georgia’s answer came easily. “Yes, I am.”

She was looking forward to getting to know Drew better, to see if their chemistry was more than just physical. There was no denying he fascinated her, and in a short time made her feel things no one else ever had. There was so much to like about him, and this weekend would hopefully lead to something deeper for them both.

“So, what did you tell Mom and Dad about where you’re going?” Courtney asked, knowing that their parents—their mother, especially—always liked to celebrate their birthdays out at dinner somewhere as a family.

“I told Mom that I was spending the weekend away with a friend,” she said, since Courtney had kept winning Drew for her birthday a secret between them. “Of course Mom wasn’t happy because she’d invited Elliott to join us for dinner, and now she had to cancel and disappoint him.”

Courtney stuck her finger in her mouth and made a gagging sound, and Georgia laughed as she placed a folded stack of clothes into her luggage, then added a couple of pairs of shoes.

While Georgia finished packing, they chatted a bit more, discussing the abstract and sometimes whimsical sculptures Courtney created, and the gallery interested in taking them on consignment. When Drew sent Georgia a text letting her know he was on his way to pick her up, Courtney decided it was time for her to leave.

Georgia walked her sister to the door and gave her a hug. “Thank you again for my birthday gift,” she said.

Courtney tossed her hair back and grinned. “Enjoy your time with that hot, sexy man. And don’t do anything that I wouldn’t do.”

Georgia rolled her eyes. “Well, that leaves the field wide open now, doesn’t it?”

“That’s the point,” her sister said, winking at Georgia.

Once Courtney was gone, Georgia finished packing her toiletries and her sexiest lingerie and underwear, which wasn’t saying much since she’d bought the pieces more for comfort and practicality than seduction, she thought with a grimace. She should have thought ahead and picked up some things, but at least everything was fairly new, and there were bits of lace here and there.

She changed into a pair of dark denim jeans, a long-sleeved loose blouse in a shade of light blue, and a pair of flats. Just as she zipped up her suitcase and rolled it to the front room, another knock sounded at the door.

Unable to suppress the giddy sensation fluttering in her stomach, she opened the door, feasting her eyes on the man who’d been in the forefront of her thoughts all week. She’d only seen him wearing suits, but he was equally gorgeous in a green Henley with the sleeves pushed up to reveal his strong, sexy forearms, and a pair of form-fitting jeans. His dark hair was a bit ruffled, and his green eyes went dark as soon as he saw her.

Without any verbal greeting, he stepped toward Georgia, threaded his fingers in her hair, tipped her head back, and pressed his mouth to hers. The unexpected kiss was slow and soft at first—a sweet, tentative hello that made her melt against him like warm taffy. But as soon as she moaned in acquiescence and parted her lips, he didn’t hesitate to slide his tongue against hers, tasting her, ravishing her.

Pure sensation shot through every part of her body—her breasts, her belly, and a low ache between her thighs throbbed and ached. She wasn’t sure what to do with her hands, so she settled them on his hips as sparks erupted between them, making her crave this kiss, his strength, and the hard length of his cock she felt pressed against her. She loved everything about the way he claimed her…from the silkiness of his tongue, the warmth of his breath, and the flavor of mint lingering on his lips.

With a low, rumbling growl in his throat, he gradually lifted his mouth from hers, then stared down at her face with unmistakable hunger gleaming in the depths of his eyes. She shivered as he skimmed his thumb down her cheek and then along her damp bottom lip, tugging gently.
