“This is just me,” I stated plainly.

“So, you don’t know Kailey? She hasn’t pissed you off?”

“Not personally.”

“Ah. Thought maybe that was your problem with me.”

She rose and fussed with the pillows, spreading the sheets out to make the bed and of course bending to do it, leaving me no choice but to stare at her ass.

“Got no problem with you,” I muttered, fixated on that perfect peach in front of me.

I was generally impervious to this shit what with growing up around half-naked women and then working around them while they were flashing tits and ass. Why the sight of this girl bent over was affecting me wasn’t just beyond me, it was also irritating. My eyes were glued to that ass while she stretched, smoothing out the blanket.

Yeah, I can be a dick, but I’ve been feeling extra dickish since she got put under my care. Maybe because she’s in my space. My sheets. And maybe because I woke up with her skin-to-skin, her scent in my nostrils. She was snuggled up to me when my alarm went off at five forty-five this morning. And my alarm didn’t make her move a muscle.

Maybe all this piss n’ vinegar from me was down to her being in a place she didn’t belong. Though you’d never know that by the way my arms were around her when I woke up.

Maybe it was because the ass in my face right then was a fourteen out of ten that I couldn’t help but notice. Why didn’t she have more fucking clothes on? Was it her mission to tempt me? Possibly.

And it might also have had something to do with the fact that right then words from Skip Ford’s monologue from a few weeks back rang in my head. He was drunk and went on about how this particular bunny was his favorite lay back in Sioux Falls, bitching about Rider barring her from the clubhouse and then muttering about how he’d have to find a reason to drive down there on a weekend and find her, so he could tap her sweet ass.

Beyond Skip, I did know she’s been with Brady at least once, though it wasn’t one on one that time. It was three on one. Three bunnies, one Brady. That information came from Rider while we were working on an engine rebuild together as part of a story about something else where it was brought up that Brady had to get pulled away from his foursome in the middle of a club emergency, laughing about how there were three unhappy bunnies because of it. And then an unhappy Brady because they informed him that if he left, they’d continue on without him.

Deacon was standing off to the side while Rider told the story and Deacon correctly guessed which other two women were there. Ride added Gianna’s name into the mix.

She turned around after the bed was made and lifted her coffee mug.

I needed out of my room. I’d just been standing still, watching her make my bed like it was the most fascinating thing I’d ever seen. Why was I even still standing here? I reached for the doorknob.

“Um, so… you want me to stay in here, right?”

“Right,” I replied.

“Any chance of watching some TV or finding me a computer so I can stream some shows?”

“You must think I’m thick.”

“Thick?” Her eyes perused me and landed on my fuckin’ crotch.

I put my index finger to her noggin. “Thick.”

Her face flushed pink and that gave me pause. Maybe I wasn’t the only one finding my mind traveling to places they shouldn’t go in this confined space.

“I’ll borrow the TV from the waiting room in Valentine Motors for the weekend.”

“Cool. Thanks. And… um…”

“Spit it out,” I rolled my hand.

“I have a guitar in my car. Do you think you could bring me that, too? And the Caboodle?”

“The what?”

“Purple sparkly plastic box. It’s got my makeup and hair shit in it.”

“Is it necessary to do your makeup and hair just to sit here?”

The last thing I needed was her dolling herself up. It was already hard enough, pun intended, to look at her here in my room.

“It also has my toothbrush and face stuff and underarm deodorant. All stuff I kinda need. I’ve used my finger to brush my teeth the last two times and I’d prefer to not get a cavity if that’s okay with you.”

Her level of bitchy was nothing to get offended about. It was barely even sass.

First, I set up the TV for her, finding myself extra irritated watching her finish her food by thoroughly licking the fork the way she did. Our eyes locked while her tongue worked down the tines and I was about to bark at her for acting like a tease, but realized by how her expression changed and looked alarmed at the look on my face that she wasn’t teasing. Just eating. My mind was in gutter mode.
