As hard as it may be to believe, my future wife just loves to snuggle like the feral little kitten that she is, and because it's my privilege as her lover to fucking tease her as much as I can—-

I tip her chin up, and her face contorts in a grimace as I brush her hair away with exaggerated tenderness.

"I love you."

She turns green upon hearing this, but because she's gotten it into her head that love is all about being ridiculously sweet—-

"I love you, too."

Kayra nearly gags at the end, and she's still grossed out even by the time our limousine finally cruises to a stop.

Her gaze turns wary when she realizes I've taken her to the club I co-own with my friends, but it's when I throw the doors open and she hears everyone yell 'surprise' that she looks ready to slit her throat.

Can this woman of mine be any cuter?

Kayra manages to hiss out thanks as our guests greet her a happy birthday, but she glares up at me as soon as we have a private moment to ourselves.

"Not your thing?"

"No. It's not. At all."

I can't recall any woman being as precise as Kayra is as she expresses her dislike, and I just fucking love it so much I need to tease her even more...by reaching for her hand so I can twine my fingers with hers.

Yuck.

The word is written all over her face, but this is just her love language I'm sure, and it goes with the territory when one falls in love with a monster as deadly and cute as my Kayra.

"Can I steal Kayra for a sec?" Tahey pops out of nowhere to take Kayra's hand out of my hold. "I just want to introduce her to a couple of my friends."

Kayra glares at me, but I pretend not to see anything. "Yeah, sure."

She looks at me one last time as Tahey drags her away.

Save. Me.

My lips curve. Not on your life, darling.

I'm sure she's already disemboweling me in her mind by now, but it really killed me when she let slip about how she's never had any friends growing up. Tahey felt just as bad when I told her about Kayra's childhood, and since then she's made it her mission to share all of her friends with the future Mrs. Drake Morrison.

A quick look at where the girls are nearly has me choking on my wine. Kayra, Tahey, and the others are occupying the VIP table closest to the stage, and the way she's seated so stiffly makes her seem like a frigid little wildcat that found itself surrounded by domesticated little tabbies.

So. Fucking. Cute.

It's only been a little over sixty days since we first met, and a lot has happened in that short span of time. Kayra and I paid Thomas a visit to let him know his first matchmaking attempt was a success, and that's when Tahey's father shared with me how the two of them met. Kayra had apparently cold-called the former doctor after hearing about him from Bailey, and yes, she did think it was an absolutely good idea to have a sentenced killer as her therapist.

And speaking of sentenced killers...

Suzanne is also now behind bars, and this time around we've taken steps to make sure she won't be able to buy her way out with her daddy's money. We've provided all of her former boyfriends legal assistance to give them courage to go public about her abusive behavior, and one great thing that came out from all of this is how Milo's story have turned the Yorkshire terrier into a celebrity dog overnight.

Last but not the least, my friends from both the FBI and Strakh now consider Kayra one of them as well, and she's become everyone's unofficial consultant when they need to profile suspects showing psychopathic traits.

I know this may sound like Kayra's starting to seem like a normal woman leading an equally normal life, but—-

Kayra suddenly catches sight of me frowning and cups my face. "What's wrong?" she asks quietly. "Is something troubling you? Do you need to have sex?"

My future wife has also gotten it in her head that the only way to "cure" me out of my frowns is to have sex, and since I can be monstrously devious just like any other man—-

"Yes," I say with utter seriousness. I know it's only a matter of time before she realizes I've been taking advantage of her all along, but until that time comes...

I pretend not to notice the way my friends from both Strakh and the FBI are all rolling their eyes as they watch Kayra starts dragging me to the nearest ladies' room.

I did say from the very start, didn't I?

Normal is fucking overrated, and girls can't get any cuter when someone's "different" like my Kayra.
