She smiled. “It is a deal.”

“I would like to go to school as well,” I said.

Lorenzo smiled. “We’ll work that out.”

Rafe shifted, accidentally bumping into Dante’s shoulder, and Dante sucked in his breath. I studied him and realized he did not look good.

“That’s it. You’re going to bed,” Lorenzo orders.

Dante glared at Rafe, and Rafe held up his hands. “I’m sorry. I just had a cramp.”

“I want you in my office.” Remington pointed to Rafe. “Believe it or not, he is actually pretty damn useful.”

Lorenzo grinned. “It‘s about time. I’ll get Dante settled. Are we staying here tonight?”

Remington nodded. “You’ve probably got a concussion. Landry assuredly does, and Dante shouldn’t be moved yet. We’re going to lay low right here.”

“Sure thing, boss.”

“Alina, there is a room set up for you. Our housekeeper will show you there.” Remington motioned for Rafe to follow him.

Lorenzo and I were helping Dante when the housekeeper came in.

“Are you going to be okay?” Niko asked Alina.

“I’m fine. Really. You two need some time together once you get this one settled.”

We did. We really did.

LORENZO

We settled my brother in bed. He grumbled about taking a pain pill, but I basically shoved it down his throat. His eyes were already drooping shut as Niko and I left the room.

“Come on,” Remington said. “You two can use this room.” He pointed across the hall.

“We’re going to see the doctor first,” Niko said

“I told you I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not. You got hit hard enough to knock you unconscious. I could tell you weren’t at full capacity earlier today.”

I huffed. “I’m feeling better now.”

Niko glared at me. “Look me in the eye and say that again. You need to be examined.”

“He’s just going to tell me I have a mild concussion. There’s no point in hearing that.”

“Lorenzo.”

I scowled at him. “You owe me for this.”

Niko rolled his eyes. “Fine.”

“I’ll punish you for pushing me. I hate doctors.”

“Punish me all you want. I need to know you’re okay.”

That I could do. “You may regret saying that.”

He smiled. “No, I don’t think I will.”

Niko walked in front of me down the stairs, my gaze drifting to his ass cheeks. I didn’t care what the doctor said. I was getting my hands on him as soon as I could. I needed sleep—if I was allowed it with my concussion—and food, and a lot of time to think and process what had happened in the last few days, but I didn’t care. All I could think about was fucking Niko again.

As predicted, I was diagnosed with a mild concussion and told to rest my eyes, stay off screens, avoid vigorous activity, and be woken every four hours. Niko wrote down everything the doctor said while I plotted revenge.

When we were finally alone in our assigned bedroom, I grabbed Niko by his waistband and pulled him back against me. “It’s about time I got you alone,” I said, letting my warm breath tickle his ear. “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting to get you naked again?”

“Lorenzo.” He pulled away from my hold. “I don’t think—”

“I had cleanup to deal with, the ride home, talking to Remington, checking on my brother, being forced to see a doctor. And now, finally, I have you. All I could think about when I ran back to the cabin was what had happened to you—if you were in there, if you were safe, if you were alive. God, I need to feel your body against mine.”

“That sounds amazing,” Niko said, “but the doctor just told you to rest.”

“That’s bullshit. I’m fine.”

“Lorenzo.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. His reluctance wasn’t just because I was injured. I was sure of that. “That’s not all, is it? There’s something bothering you.”

“What you said to Remington about me staying until Ivanov was found. Do you really think he’ll relent once Ivanov is dead? Will you have to send me away then?”

“Do you actually think I would let that happen after what I promised you last night? You’re mine. No one is going to separate us. Getting Remington to agree to you staying longer allows him to back down slowly. It gives us time for him to get to know you better and time for him to see how much I love you.”

“Oh, Lorenzo. I love you so much. You… you really feel the same way?”

This time, he let me pull him against me without protest. “I absolutely do. I’m not letting anyone take you. You belong with me.” I kissed him, softly at first and then harder. Finally, he pulled away, shaking his head. “We can’t do this now. You need to take it easy. You need to heal.”

“Remember what I said when you dragged me to the doctor?”

Niko frowned. “I don’t want to argue about that.”

“Then strip and bend over the bed.”
