And though my brother, and the Souls Chapel Revenants MC, would’ve taken me in as well, I’d made the correct decision in going with the Crows.

They were my family now.

And though Trouper was my brother, he wasn’t privy to everything anymore.

The Crows, however, were.

I slapped hands and gave manly slaps on the back in half-hug form to each of the members of the MC that came toward me, leaving Haggard for last.

He looked me up and down, then his eyes turned to survey Banger, before returning to me with upraised brows. “So this is the reason you’ve literally missed every scheduled MC function the last week? You know you can bring her, right?”

I felt Banger’s hand snake up the underside of my shirt at my back before pressing her face to my back. Right over the patch for the Battle Crows that meant so much to me.

She was laughing.

The witch.

“I do realize that I can bring her,” I grumbled. “But I can’t fuckin’ sit without reclining right now because of my ribs. And shirts make my chest hurt, and let’s not get into how I fuckin’ itch right now.”

“Itching could be a sign of a venereal disease,” Trouper supplied helpfully.

I gave him a bland look. “My knife wound itches, asshole. Not my dick.”

“Sometimes it’s not the dick, though,” Price provided. “Sometimes, it can be your balls or your taint.”

It was at this point that Banger lost the ability to stay silent while laughing.

She burst out giggling like a child, then started wiping her eyes on my shirt as she came around to stand beside me. “I haven’t been hogging him, Haggard. I swear. He’s just bein’ a big ol’ baby.”

I caught her up under my arm and tugged her in close. “I see. I guess I’ll allow it.”

I snorted. “You’ll allow it? Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you get yourself a girl, and forget all us peons existed?”

“Yeah, Haggard. Didn’t you?” Shine teased his big brother.

Haggard groaned. “I swear to God. Y’all try to keep up with a goddamn Gen-Z then get back to me.”

We all burst out laughing at that.

Haggard was well past robbing the cradle when it came to his wife, Sophia. Sophia was actually Haggard’s daughter, Clementine’s, best friend. Had been since they were very young. So yeah, it was kind of awkward. But they made it work.

“All right, all right. Let’s get this show on the road.” Trouper grinned as he clapped his hands. “Let’s figure out what my baby brother got himself into.”

“What you got him into,” I heard Banger mutter, what she thought was under her breath.

Trouper had ears like a goddamn deer, though, and heard even when you thought he couldn’t.

He shot her a glare, which Banger shot right back at him.

“Children,” Haggard drawled. “Separate to your own sides of the table. Tell me what’s going on.”

So, we did, starting with me meeting Sareen, and ending with the last time I saw her at the policeman’s ball.

“Somehow, you think you pissed her off,” Jeremiah, also known as Sparkle, clarified. “You think that you rubbed her nose into the fact that you’d moved on, with someone hotter, and now she’s going to try to pay you back for what? Making her look like a fool? Moving on? Telling her she was a crazy nut?”

“Minus the hotter part,” Banger muttered. “Sareen has it going on. She may be crazy, but she’s beautiful.”

“The hotter they are,” Jeremiah rumbled. “The crazier they get.”

I squeezed Banger’s hand, then tugged her to sit down next to me, curling her even further into my body, and letting every man in the room know that she was mine.

God, I liked that.

I liked that they all knew, without a shadow of a doubt, whom she belonged to.

I’d like it even more if my name was written across her back in bold letters for everyone to see.

“I’ll remember that.” Banger snickered. “But yes, in my honest opinion, before I came along, Easton could still be hers. But with me in the picture now, I’m now showing her that he’s not very interested in going back to that.”

“I’m already looking into it. I’m working with your friend, Hank, to figure out the best course of action. So far, she’s done well keeping most everything off the internet. We found her communications with the original officer that pulled her over and some emails, but nothing on cell phone communications. I’m guessing that’s because she knew you worked in the tech industry. Most likely, she has a pre-paid cell phone that she uses to communicate when she needs to. Plus, she’s a cop, so she knows how to cover her ass fairly well, or she wouldn’t be in that profession.”

I grumbled under my breath, causing Bram, who’d been quite quiet throughout, to say, “Or, she could just plain ass do everything via word of mouth. Or use her home line. Not everyone’s invested their whole life in their phone like the rest of you.”
